- Project Delivery
- Knowledge Management
- Facilitates day-to-day implementation of project activities as a liaison between implementing partners and UNDP;
- Supports the Project Coordinator in managing the delivery of inputs and outputs in line with the project workplans for M&E and donor reporting;
- Prepares and maintains detailed quantitative and qualitative accounts of project activities by using Quantum data, including expenditures and budget accountability;
- Facilitates and attends project-related meetings and missions;
- Coordinates with administrative and support staff for project activities;
- Contributes to the development of procurement plans and follows up on the status of procurements to implement project activities;
- Supports the development of project-related work such as financial reports, progress reports and interim/final reports in cooperation with implementing partners;
- Liaises with the Ministry to ensure the operationalization of MPUC and DPUCs by facilitating coordination among the Ministry, MPUC and DPUC members, TAs and community members;
- Provides capacity support to the Ministry and CSOs in carrying out project activities;
- Supports the development of proposals, reports, advocacy and donor-related material or events to enhance and improve donor intelligence on ongoing initiatives;
- Other tasks as directed by the Project Coordinator and/or Governance Portfolio Manager.
Knowledge Management on Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding (30%)
- Leads on the collection of conflict data and analysis by monitoring public media sources (both traditional and new media platforms) on a daily basis and communicating with DPUC members and other key local actors as necessary to capture conflict-related issues, early warning signs for conflicts and violence incidents, as well as how the issues are reported media and social media;
- Regularly update the conflict monitoring table feeding into the Malawi Prevention Platform with collected information on weekly basis;
- Assists in developing high-quality public information to highlight UNDP’s work in peacebuilding and conflict prevention in cooperation with UNDP communications team.
Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator – Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding, the Project Analyst – Peacebuilding will closely work with the Ministry of Local Government, Unity and Culture, Public Affairs Committee, District Councils, other relevant MDAs, UN agencies and donors to implement planned project activities. The Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding Analyst will promote a collaborative, client-oriented approach consistent with UNDP rules and regulations.

- Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Political Science, Conflict Prevention, Peacebuilding, International Relations, Project Management, Development Studies, or any other related fields.
- A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in a relevant field in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- 2 years (with master’s degree) or 4 years (with bachelor’s degree) of relevant experience at the national or international level in the field of conflict prevention and peacebuilding and project delivery.
Required skills
- Hands-on knowledge and experience in conflict prevention and peacebuilding in Malawi is required.
- Demonstrable experience in project delivery in cooperation with governments and CSOs in the field of conflict prevention and peacebuilding is required.
- Experience in data collection and maintenance is required.
- Proven experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) is required.
Desired skills
- Specific programmatic experience in one or more of the following areas: institution building for conflict prevention and peacebuilding, community dialogue, and/or mediation/reconciliation; and direct experience in project delivery, knowledge management and partnerships in a United Nations common system field operation (inclusive of peacekeeping, political missions and UN agencies, funds, and programmes) – or similar international organization or non-governmental organization in a field based environment is desirable;
- Field experience in the country and region is desirable.
- Experience in drafting concept notes and proposals in the field of conflict prevention and peacebuilding.
- Experience/Knowledge of UNDP internal policy and ERP system is desirable.
Language:
- Fluency in English and Chichewa is required.
