Organizational Scope & Context:

IOM is an intergovernmental organization established in 1951 committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society. Globally, IOM has 173 Member States and 8 observers, as well as more than 10,000 staff. Egypt became a member state in 1991; IOM Egypt has since established excellent working relations with migration-related Ministries, as well as civil society and UN partners.

Under the direct supervision of the National Programme Officer of the Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion (LMI) Unit, the successful candidate will provide comprehensive and specialized support to the projects that are implemented by the Unit at IOM Egypt.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities.
  2. Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics such as child protection, counter-trafficking.
  3. Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
  4. Assist in creating awareness-raising activities focusing on social cohesion
  5. Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.
  6. Draft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations and other forms of documentation.
  7. Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions on protection-related matters.
  8. Respond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
  9. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Institution in development studies, Migration studies, Political, Law, Social Sciences, or a related field, with two years of relevant professional experience
  • High School degree/certificate with four years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
  • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.

Skills

  • In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization.
  • In-depth knowledge on child protection issues.
  • Strong knowledge of computer applications, especially MS Word, Outlook, Access and good typing skills in English and Arabic.
  • Experience working with Excel and databases.
  • Strong Communication skills is essential.

Languages

  • Thorough knowledge of English and Arabic.
