Operational in Indonesia for more than 40 years, IOM Indonesia is working on a wide range of activities in partnership with the Government of Indonesia, civil society, private sector actors, migrants and communities. IOM Indonesia is engaged in several thematic areas, including: Counter-Trafficking (CT), Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion (LMI), Disasters, Climate and Resilience (DCR), Immigration and Border Governance (IBG), Refugee Care, Migration Health, Migration Governance, and Resettlement and Voluntary Returns. 

IOM’s DCR programme include in preparedness and prevention as well as in emergency response. For that IOM works alongside and contributes to strengthening the capacity of government partners and local and international counterpart including support to the national and local cluster system particularly the National Cluster on Displacement and Protection (Klasnas PP) including in supporting the Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) cluster where globally, IOM is one of the lead agencies. 

Under direct Supervision of the Project Officer and overall supervision of the Programme Coordinator, the Project Assistant (Transit Site) will support the IOM Indonesia team with the management of the transit facilities where Rohingya refugees disembarking in Aceh province are being temporarily sheltered.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Under the supervision of the Project Officer and in close coordination with the Head of Office, support the provision of humanitarian assistance to meet the basic needs of the refugees according to minimum humanitiarian standards and best practices;
  • Provide assistance to Project Officer as the field focal point to provide administrative support on site level implementation of WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), Shelter, CBA (Cash Based Assistant in coordination with programme and field office;
  • Work in close coordination with IOM Health, MHPSS (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support) and other teams to facilitate access to services for the refugees; 
  • Coordinate closely with humanitarian partners and government actors and service providers on the site to monitor the quality of humanitarian assistance;
  • Help the needs identification and design of humanitarian response  be coordinated with the refugee community;
  • Support community consultations and representation mechanisms, as well as programme accountability, monitoring and evaluation processes;
  • Based on the technical advice of protection staff and programme management, assist in incorporating protection considerations in all programme interventions, to help mitigate risks; 
  • Act as a focal point for all programme activities at the assigned sites;
  • Support the IOM team to maintain relations with the host community, local authorities and other key actors involved;
  • Any other duties as required by the evolving situation.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • A University Degree in social work, gender, development studies, international relations and/or other related field with at least two years of experience in humanitarian or development programmes targeting migrants, or,
  • High School diploma with four years of relevant professional experience.

EXPERIENCE

  • At least 2 years of experience supporting humanitarian or development programmes targeting migrants;
  • Experience in working with relevant non-governmental institutions, civil society organization or UN.

SKILLS

  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Strong humanitarian and ethical principles;
  • Respect for diversity;
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.

Languages 

  • IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. 
  • For this position, fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is required (oral and written).
