Description

Project Objective: UNICEF in Iraq works with the overall objective of supporting the Government at national, regional and sub-national levels to strengthen basic social systems and services for vulnerable youth, and contributing to UNICEF Iraq’s Strategic Plan to strengthen the sectoral plan to achieve the Iraq Youth Vision 2030 and youth priorities in the National Development Plan. To this end, UNICEF collaborates with and supports government authorities and works in partnership with other UN agencies and with Riyada Organization for capacity building and community members, including youth through adolescent and youth centers. The expression aims to increase youth capacity and increase interest and ability to implement innovative skills development and youth engagement (10-24 years) that will contribute to youth empowerment and participation opportunities by increasing capacity and opportunities for social, civic and digital participation in government and UNICEF programs and priority areas detailed in the document through the U-Report Clubs project in three governorates (Mosul, Baghdad and Basra).

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Social work background preferred.

 

Qualifications and experience:

  • Lead community consultation and outreach activities, including government coordination.
  • Contribute to the creation of plans for outreach and discussion campaign consultations.
  • Ensure community participatory feedback mechanisms and accountability to affected populations during project planning, implementation, and closure.
  • Mobilization and support in the identification of youth beneficiaries under output two (Social cohesion)

 

Tasks:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Social work background preferred.
  • Prior professional experience in a similar post.
  • Previous work with adolescents and children.
  • English and Arabic required.
  • Ability to work independently in a rapidly changing professional environment with a view towards establishing administrative procedures and protocols that will ensure optimal functioning of the operation.
  • Good interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain the highest degree of discretion.
  • Experience in the use of computers and office software packages
  • Assist the Program Coordinator in all tasks that facilitate achievement of program deliverables.
  • Prepare and track all procurement processes with any paper work related to program administration and implementation,
  • including but not limited to (Purchase Requests, Purchase Orders, Service Agreements, Contracts, and Payment Requests), and follow up on the invoices from the vendors.
  • Manage the program filing system for all activities and ensure that information is organized accordingly to the reporting and auditing needs of the program. Ensure required levels of confidentiality.
  • Responsible for the smooth operations of program functions
  • including photocopies, financial and operations documents;
  • Responsible for filing and organizing program documentation in a clear and accessible manner;
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating team calendar and team meeting documentation; in addition to maintaining updated program internal trackers, transaction list
  • Provide verbal and written translation for program, as necessary.
  • Assist in and facilitate workshops, trainings and meetings preparation which includes material preparation, copying and supply purchasing;
  • Coordinate closely with the Program Coordinator to ensure proper logistics, administration, human resources of the program are conducted within Ryada policy and with the maximum benefit to the program;
  • Must have strong organization skills with capacity to help contribute to developing and enhancing internal systems and processes.
  • Adhere to all Ryada policies and procedures as outlined in Ryada policies and procedure manuals;
  • Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Ryada and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission;
  • Ability to travel and follow up with other offices in administrative matters, as necessary.
  • Organizing and managing schedules and calendars for the team.
  • Attend meetings and record notes and messages for the managers and senior-level.
  • Other duties as assigned
