Organizational Scope & Context:
Under the overall supervision of the Head of Protection and the direct supervision of the Protection Officer in Child Protection, the successful candidate will support project implementation and monitoring of several projects under the child protection and counter-trafficking portfolio. The Project Assistant is expected to carry out his/her duties in accordance with the strictest moral and ethical standards.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities.
- Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics such as child protection, counter-trafficking.
- Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
- Assist in creating awareness-raising activities focusing on social cohesion
- Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.
- Draft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations and other forms of documentation.
- Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions on protection-related matters.
- Respond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Institution in development studies, Migration studies, Political, Law, Social Sciences, or a related field, with two years of relevant professional experience
- High School degree/certificate with four years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Skills
- In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization.
- In-depth knowledge on child protection issues.
- Strong knowledge of computer applications, especially MS Word, Outlook, Access and good typing skills in English and Arabic.
- Experience working with Excel and databases.
- Strong Communication skills is essential.
Languages
- Thorough knowledge of English and Arabic.
