CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation is an independent organisation that works to prevent and resolve conflicts through dialogue and mediation. Founded in 2000 by Nobel Peace Laureate and former President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari, we have since grown to be a leader in the field of international peacemaking.
Within its Eurasia Programme, CMI works to contribute to the relevant peace processes in the region by facilitating dialogue among conflict parties, enhancing regional conflict resolution capacities and supporting regional bodies and national actors.
CMI is seeking a fixed-term Project Assistant (Administrative) for its Eurasia team.
The Project Assistant (Administrative) will be responsible for:
- Supporting CMI’s Eurasia team in various administrative tasks (e.g. calendar and contacts management, meeting and travel arrangements);
- Supporting administration and practicalities related to project planning, implementation and reporting including support to budget management, data entry and budget tracking;
- Arranging travel and logistical support for events and/or individuals;
- Support to the project teams as needed.
A successful candidate is expected to:
- Have professional qualification in the field of Business Administration or equivalent practical training.
- Have experience in supporting the administration and financial management of EU grants;
- Experience in assisting management and/or coordination of teams in a multinational environment is seen as a strong asset.
- Have good knowledge of secretarial duties.
- Be positive, service-minded and well organized, proactive and accurate.
- Be able to work in rapidly changing situations and under stress, including under tight deadlines and with multiple tasks at the same time.
- Have excellent communication and teamworking skills.
- Have fluent written and spoken skills in English. Knowledge of Ukrainian and/or Russian is considered an asset.
- Have strong IT skills and knowledge of office programmes, including software for presentations, as well as ability to support others in IT matters. Good knowledge of financial and/or accounting software is seen as a strong asset.

Project Assistant will report to Head, Eurasia or Project Manager, Ukraine. The position is located in Brussels, Belgium and requires a work permit to work in the EU. The position is a fixed-term project related recruitment until May 2025. The preferred starting date is as soon as possible, in March 2024 or as agreed.
