Tearfund is seeking a motivated Project Assistant to support the implementation of its Iraq programme within a consortium project.
In coordination with the Programme Quality Director (PQD) and Project Coordinator, to support the implementation of Tearfund’s project and liaison with consortium partners to ensure timely delivery, effective monitoring, and compliance with Tearfund Quality Standards in support of the Iraq Strategy.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Development Studies, Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Economics, Business
- Experience in an administrative, office support, or project support role.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to maintain filing systems and keep project records accurate and up to date.
- Proficiency in IT skills, specifically Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets) and MS Office (Excel).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English.
- Ability to work effectively in a team, follow instructions, and meet deadlines.
- A proactive approach to assisting with daily project tasks.
The ideal candidate should also have:
- Up to 2 years of experience in project support, coordination, or humanitarian/development work
- Experience of reporting, coordination, or stakeholder engagement
- Exposure to budgeting/ reporting
- Engaging with a variety of stakeholders and sharing learning
- Prior experience with international humanitarian organization
- Ability to learn new software and reporting tools quickly.
- Good coordination and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Good IT skills
- Very good interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Fluent in spoken and written Arabic
- Excellent spoken and written English
Please note that this role will be based in Basra, Iraq. Applicants must possess a valid passport/visa stating the right to live and work in Iraq.
