Job Summary

 

The MotherCare project specifically addresses the needs of pregnant women and new mothers, as they are at the frontline of vulnerabilities posed by elevated temperatures in Basra and Ninewa. Pregnant women are susceptible to several types of complications at all stages of the pregnancy—which include both physiological changes and risk of birth defects such as cardiovascular, respiratory or kidney diseases. Displacement also exacerbates these vulnerabilities, increasing the risks faced by already marginalized communities. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, this project adopts a health-focused approach, prioritizing the delivery of essential healthcare, support, and community resilience-building initiatives.

The Project Assistant will support the Project Coordinator in managing and implementing the MotherCare project in Mosul, ninewa. He/She will handle administrative tasks, assist in

organizing community outreach programs, and contribute to data collection and analysis to monitor project impact.

 

Responsibilities and Tasks

· Assist in the development and implementation of project activities, ensuring they align with the overall project strategy and objectives.

· Support the coordination and management of day-to-day project operations in Mosul.

· Help in organizing and conducting community engagement activities, workshops, and training sessions.

· Assist in data collection and reporting for project monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities.

· Facilitate communication and information flow between project staff, stakeholders, and beneficiaries.

· Support logistic and administrative tasks, including procurement and the management of supplies.

· Preparation of detailed reports on project activities, outcomes, and challenges.

· Support the research components of the project by assisting in data collection, entry, and preliminary analysis under the guidance of the project coordinator or research team and as needed.

· Assist in the development and dissemination of awareness materials that are culturally and contextually appropriate.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Bachelor’s degree in public health, or related fields.

At least 2 years of experience as a project assistant with the

humanitarian sector, preferably in public health or a related field.

Strong communication skills and proficiency in Arabic, English is an asset.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, with strong capabilities in Excel and PowerPoint.

 Proven ability to support project implementations, particularly in

challenging environments.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team.

Familiarity with the socio-political and environmental context of Iraq particularly Ninewa Governorates.

Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet

deadlines.
