Aiming to structure the Brazil office to achieve the results foreseen in the Country Programme Document, and the priorities defined by the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the new structure of the United Nations Development Programme – UNDP comprises working units around three thematic axes:
- Inclusive Socioeconomic Development Unit: poverty reduction, social policies, livelihoods, public-private partnerships, inclusive markets and growth;
- Environmentally Sustainable Development Unit: environment, biodiversity, climate change, disaster risk reduction, chemicals, Montreal Protocol;
- Governance and Justice for Development: violence prevention, justice, transparency, anti-corruption, human rights, local capacity building.
The portfolio of the Inclusive Socioeconomic Development Unit is focused on (1) strengthening social development throughout the Brazilian territory, promoting the development of capacities to reduce inequalities, overcome crises and guarantee access for the entire population to public goods and services of quality, without discrimination by gender, race, age or sexual orientation; and (2) the promotion of inclusive and environmentally sustainable economic growth, with productive diversification, industrial strengthening, resilient infrastructure and increased productivity.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct guidance and supervision of the Project Manager, general coordination of the Programme Analyst and the Programme Specialist at the Inclusive Socioeconomic Development Unit and following the rules and regulations of UNDP, the Project Assistant will support administrative, operational, and management services for the implementation of nationally executed projects and those directly executed by the Unit, guaranteeing high quality, precision and coherence of work.
- Assist the performance of operational processes related to Human Resources, Finance, Procurement, and Travel;
- Assist the management of projects budget/financial resources;
- Assist the elaboration of project related documents, such as reports, official correspondences and minutes
- Assist the implementation of projects activities using Quantum (ERP) system and other internal UNDP platforms;
- Carry out tasks in close interaction and in harmony with the Inclusive Socioeconomic Development Unit, with UNDP teams and with project partners;
- Keep digital projects archive updated and organized;
- Support other project management tasks requested by the Supervisor.
- The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the project.

Required Skills and Experience
Min. Education requirements:
- Secondary Education (Ensino Médio Completo) is required.
- University degree (Bachelor’s degree) in Economics, Accounting, Social Sciences or Development Studies or related areas will be given due consideration, but it is not a requirement.
Min. years of relevant work experience:
- Minimum 4 years (with secondary education) or 1 year (with university degree) of relevant experience in project management.
Required skills:
- Experience in using computers and office software packages, specially MS Excel;
- Ability to prepare presentations, specially using MS Powerpoint
- Ability to easily work with numbers and with financial reports
Desired skills in addition to the competencies covered in the Competencies section:
- Experience with International Technical Cooperation Project and/or previous experience in UN Agency.
- Experience in supporting procurement processes.
- Experience elaborating project related documents such as reports, official correspondences and minutes of meetings.
- Working experience in liaising with projects’ teams and projects’ partners.
- Experience with administrative tasks and project monitoring.
Required Language(s):
- Fluency in Portuguese is required;
- Working knowledge in English is required.
