Context
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Office in Ljubljana and working closely with the project management team, the Project Associate will support activities in the area of Protection aimed at strengthening Child Protection in Slovenia.
Core Functions / Responsibilities
- Support the Project Focal Point in the implementation of the project activities and to develop and regularly update a workplan and timetable to ensure its smooth implementation.
- Monitor financial expenditures in close coordination with the Finance Assistant to ensure that the project proceeds in a cost-effective, efficient, and transparent manner.
- Perform other administrative tasks to support project implementation.
- Liaise with the implementing partner and government authorities, as well as other relevant counterparts as needed.
- Organize and participate in meetings/trainings/capacity building sessions relevant to the project.
- Draft documents, reports, presentations, social media and other communications and knowledge products on project activities for internal and external distribution.
- Prepare regular internal and donor narrative reports.
- Undertake duty travel, as may be required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Political Science, Social Science, Social Work, International Relations, Law, Humanities, or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with three (3) years of relevant professional experience;
Or
- High School Diploma with five (5) years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of migration issues and/or social protection in Slovenia and the region;
- Knowledge of the national migration context or experience in the region is a strong advantage;
- Experience in project and budget management, and project implementation, reporting, monitoring and evaluation;
- Experience in liaison with national, regional and international institutions;
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Skills
- Demonstrated project coordination and organizational skills including the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and ability to establish harmonious and effective working relationships both within and outside the organization;
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as part of a small team;
- Excellent writing, editing and reporting skills;
- Good knowledge of project management cycles, including knowledge of project budgeting and financial management;
- Excellent organization skills; analytical and creative thinking;
- Excellent communication and team-building skills with a track record in coordination and building trust with diverse stakeholders.
Languages
Fluency in English and working knowledge of Slovenian are required.
Other
Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment and verification of residency, visa and authorizations by the concerned Government, where applicable. As part of the mandatory medical entry on duty clearance, candidates will be requested to provide evidence of vaccination against COVID-19.
