The programme of Emerging Infections under the Infectious Diseases Division conducts research for multiple projects. A couple of hospital-based surveillance, epidemiological studies related to enteric and emerging pathogens and implementation research are ongoing in 10 districts of Bangladesh to strengthen the Government of Bangladesh’s public health network and develop policy recommendations. 
The Project Coordinator will report to the Head, Programme for Emerging Infections and will be mainly responsible for Planning, organizing, monitoring, coordinating, and implementing research studies/projects.  The specific areas of responsibilities include:
  • Provide inputs during strategy development workshops for the Centre;
  • Develop tactical plans for public health strengthening;
  • Brainstorm and identify priority areas of research;
  • Assess funding opportunities that align with the Centre’s strategic focus;
  • Guide researchers to align research design with policy advocacy initiatives;
  • Evaluate funding opportunities for projects based on research hypothesis;
  • Collaborate with other P.I.s to co-develop research proposals;
  • Present proposal to donor agencies and showcase research capabilities as well as alignment to donor needs;
  • Create the detailed project plan covering milestones, deliverables, etc.;
  • Assign work to the team and initiate activities as per the project plan;
  • Deploy data collection method;
  • Monitor achievement against timelines and milestones of implementation plans;
  • Review resource consumption and workforce utilization;
  • Review quarterly financial report with Centre Director;
  • Review progress on focus areas and take corrective action;
  • Resolve queries and concerns on strategic issues;
  • Respond to escalations and interact with donor administration team;
  • Direct and guide team members to develop new processes and policies based on inputs;
  • Oversee implementation of initiatives throughout the Centre across projects and locations;
  • Develop change management plan;
  • Communicate directly with key internal stakeholders;
  • Secure buy-in for new practices across the Centre in order to constantly improve the effectiveness of policies and processes across Centre;
  • Promote a spirit of collegiality and gender diversity amongst team members and in the organization;
  • Encourage team members to collaborate across areas;
  • Address and resolve any diversity-related issues;
  • set goals and conduct appraisals for the team;
  • Set high standards and confront poor performance where needed;
  • Mentor young professionals and prepare them for higher responsibilities;
  • Identify and reward high performers.
Required qualifications and experience:
  • MBBS degree from a Medical College recognized by Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) with Master’s degree in Public Health
  • 10 years of experience in relevant field;
  • Experience in Rotavirus, Norovirus and Nipah-related research projects will be given preference.
