Project Coordinator

tendersglobal.net

The Diaspora Programme is implemented by the Danish Refugee Council (DRC)’s Localization Unit. As part of DRC localization efforts, the diasporas are considered as a part of the civil society actors of the countries and communities in which they have their roots and connections.

Since 2010, DRC has been working with diaspora groups as transnational civil society actors. Engagement with diaspora is based on a recognition of the significant role they play for people and communities in countries of origin (or heritage), for refugees and migrants in transit, and for newly arrived refugees and migrants in countries of residence, and, consequently, their potential for improving the situation for many of those affected by conflict and displacement.

Our Afghan Diaspora Engagement (ADE) project builds on our support to the Afghan diaspora in Europe in the last six years, which included several research, regular webinars and workshops, two European conferences, professional training on advocacy and targeted financial and technical support to Afghan diaspora women for advocacy.

As the Project Coordinator of ADE, you will have the overall responsibility of the implementation of the Afghan Diaspora Engagement Project. As Coordinator you will also be supervising ADE team (one officer and one student assistant) and will be the project’ budget holder.  As Project Coordinator you will report to the Head of the Diaspora Programme and be part of the Diaspora Programme team within the Localization Unit of DRC. The tasks will include, but not be limited to:

Project Planning and Implementation:

  • Plan and implement activities (conferences, workshops, webinars) in line with donor agreements.
  • Collaborate with diaspora partners and support their activities.
  • Coordinate with the Afghanistan Country Office to ensure effective project delivery.

Grants and Financial Management:

  • Manage project budgets, ensuring compliance with donor agreements and internal systems.
  • Handle budget revisions, track expenditures, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Support audits by providing necessary documentation.

Donor and Stakeholder Coordination:

  • Serve as the primary contact for donor and external stakeholder communications.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement and partnership processes according to DRC standards.
  • Coordinate internally and externally to prevent duplication and manage risks effectively.

Unit Development and Representation:

  • Contribute to new proposal development and fundraising in line with the Unit strategy.
  • Undertake ad-hoc unit-related tasks as needed.
  • Represent the unit in relevant coordination forums, as assigned by the Head of Unit.
  • About you: to be successful in this role, you excel in mobilizing and working with a broad range of actors. All employees should master DRC’s core competencies: Communicating, Taking the lead, Collaborating, Striving for excellence and Demonstrating integrity. Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required:

  • Min. 4 years of experience within the field of development or humanitarian assistance.
  • Min. 2 years of experience with project cycle management and grants management.
