Context of the Role:

Expectation State (ES) is currently hiring for a Project Coordinator to implement a donor funded activity that aims to support Jordan’s home-based businesses (HBBs) and Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) to grow, transform, and become resilient to future shocks focusing on four critical sectors: agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, and services, with special attention to technology development and implementation. It works to implement best practices in crisis response, enterprise strengthening, inclusive job creation, and financial sector development within a market-systems development (MSD) framework and leveraging innovative behavioral change methodologies to facilitate long-term, sustainable changes in the behaviors or stakeholders and beneficiaries that align better with the current needs of Jordan’s MSEs.
Expectation State will lead efforts to identify, assess, and support Financial Service Providers (FSPs), focusing on Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) with potential for catalytic impact on MSEs’ access to finance. This will include identifying barriers and enabling factors to introduce innovative financing tools and access to finance services that meet the needs of MSEs and provide linkages to international investors.
To support our team in Jordan, we are looking for a Project Coordinator.
Role:
- Support the Project Manager in developing project workplans, scope, objectives, timeline and deliverables.
- Keep track of the project operational performance and ensure project activities are within assigned budgets, identify problems and suggest corrective actions.
- Maintain intimate knowledge of program objectives, accomplishments, and development impacts to synthesize in writing or in briefs upon demand, especially for meetings, speeches, background papers, and other reporting requirements
- Act as a liaison between different project stakeholders including ES team, our prime contractor, market actors, project beneficiaries, consultants and implementing partners.
- Identify and manage risks in order to deliver the project in a timely manner and within the budget.
- Schedule and organize regular check in meetings to discuss progress, issues and action items while keeping track on project tasks and milestones against budget and timeframe.
- In collaboration with the Project Manager and the Finance and Admin Officer, assist in the preparation of annual budgets and monthly fund requirements.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on the implementation of the project’s activities against the intended results and outcomes to Project Manager. This should be implemented by working closely with ES team, our prime contractor, technical consultants, contractors and partners.
- Provide other administrative and logistics support required for the successful implementation of ES project activities (drafting contracts, project file management.
- Assist in drafting and timely submission of Project Implementation Review/Annual Project Report, weekly and quarterly technical reports, and other reports as may be required by ES, and/or our prime contractor.
- Maintains an organised and professional work environment at all times, meeting our prime contractor and ES file management requirements.
- Provides assistance or orientation to visitors and guests, as requested.
- Provides support to other team members as required.
Profile:
The Project Coordinator is expected to be an organised individual with the ability to focus and pay great attention to detail, with relevant experience and knowledge in project delivery and coordination, preferably with previous experience.
The role would suit an individual with an experience in a junior project management role with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, proven through successful interactions with various stakeholders.
The Project Coordinator should have at least two years of progressively responsible coordination, technical and/or project delivery experience, and/or related experience. Holds a university degree, or equivalent years of experience, in development studies, economics, finance and/or management related fields. We will work with you to develop your skills as a Project Coordinator to enable you to deliver your work to the best of your ability. We are looking for someone who wants to learn and evolve their professional skills and knowledge coupled with the experience and appetite to become an excellent coordinator.
A good candidate would be proficient in English and Arabic and has experience in the delivery of projects that relate to inclusive economic growth, development sector, access to finance, and/or any relevant experience. Strong writing, presentation and reporting skills, as well as a good command of G-Suite, are required.
