The Jiyan Foundation for Human Rights is seeking applicants for the position of Project Coordinator in Baghdad – Iraq. to plan, organize and conduct logistical, procurement, and other related activities.

Position:Project Coordinator

Status: Full-time (40hrs/week)

Required Degree: Bachelor or higher

Reports to: Director of Operations (DoO, Duhok, Iraq), Senior Project Coordinator (SPC, Berlin, Germany), and Center Manager (Baghdad)

Application deadline: 19 January 2023

Duration: 12 months with the possibility of extension



  1. Responsible for the coordination, implementation and reporting of his/her designated project(s)
  2. Knows proposals, project objectives, and indicators, as well as contracts and donor regulations and guidelines as well reporting deadlines
  3. Field visits to project locations for the purpose of monitoring project implementation
  4. Keeps track of all expenses and the financial overview of all projects under their coordination
  5. Collects data for regular internal reporting and writes monthly internal project reports
  6. Writes project report and sends them to the respective donor
  7. Supports the Grants Coordinators (GC) with proposal writing
  8. Communicates with project staff about the activities in their programs and centers
  9. Sets up a comprehensive information sharing and reporting system
  10. Communicates with donors regarding the project implementation
  11. May liaise with stakeholders and project partners in Iraq and Syria and participate in expert and partner meetings, conferences and other external events on behalf of the DoO
  12. Carries out any other relevant duties according to the professional capacities and position in the organization as assigned by the supervisor or line manager in mutual agreement



  1. Participation in professional trainings and seminars
  2. Working in an international and dedicated team, with the opportunity to travel
  3. Paid holidays (24 days for full-time position) plus 15 statutory holidays. Additional paid holidays, especially on the occasion of religious festivals, may be agreed upon
  4. Voluntary pension scheme with employer contributions


  1. Very good Arabic and English skills in listening, speaking and writing, Kurdish language skills a plus;
  2. Completed bachelor’s degree or higher for example in English, Business Administration, Social Sciences or similar
  3. Preferably with experience with organizational work and/or international NGO work, preferably in the development cooperation sector
  4. Advanced familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (especially MS Word and Excel) and email communication
  5. Competence to easily get familiar with online project management tools (like Asana)
  6. Care for detail and organizational skills, also under time pressure
  7. Very good communication skills
  8. Readiness to travel, including multi-day trips, both nationally and internationally
  9. Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and international team, cooperation with other staff members, centers and external partners
  10. Active interest in promoting human rights and social justice; awareness of current events both nationally and internationally
