Project Coordinator: Finding Nature’s Footprints – North Devon Coast National Landscape
(North Devon Voluntary Services)

Proposed start date: 1st March 2024.
This post is full time, fixed term for 18 – 21 months.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in the North Devon Coast National Landscape
(designated an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’) to identify, record and enhance the
terrestrial species and habitats of North Devon. The ‘Finding Nature’s Footprints’ project is
supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, and requires an enthusiastic, confident, and
organised person. You will be part of a small, collaborative team and have the opportunity to
increase your ecological skills and knowledge, gain people management experience and make a
difference for wildlife.

The overall project objective is to create a community-led Nature Recovery Plan for the North
Devon Coast National Landscape alongside community actions for wildlife. You will work with the
project partners, communities, landowners, schools, students, volunteers and agencies across
North Devon and Torridge. Tasks include delivering a range of ecological surveys, providing
practical conservation advice, managing a graduate intern and volunteers, and organising
training and citizen science activities/events.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in a relevant environmental
discipline or have equivalent experience, with some knowledge of English habitats, species, and
biological data recording methods. A passion for working with the public, connecting people
with nature, and sharing knowledge with all ages is essential. Specialist training will be
provided.

The appointee will be employed by project partner North Devon Voluntary Services and work from
the NDCNL team’s office in Barnstaple.
