The Project Coordinator (RSS) reports to the Director of Relief and Social Services.
Responsibilities
Coordinates and monitors the implementation of Agency-wide Relief and Social Services (RSS) projects in collaboration with the implementing Field/ Manager, ensuring adherence to donor stipulations, grant agreement(s) and deadlines; develops, updates and revises an overall RSS projects schedule and related lists, including defined objectives, budgetary requirements, timelines and expected outcomes. Provides support to the relevant RSS projects strategy, including project proposals, project design, frameworks and overall deliverables, ensuring alignment with the UNRWA’s strategic plan, the Medium-Term Strategy indicators and donor requirements; assists in the development and revision of appropriate guidelines, procedures, indicators, monitoring and reporting mechanisms and evaluation techniques for projects. Monitors the financial issues relating to Agency-wide RSS projects, ensuring compliance with project and donor stipulations; ensures that the Director and management team in the Relief and Social Services Department (RSSD) are regularly updated on the financial status for projects, including expenditures and budget details; as necessary, provides alternative solutions to challenges encountered. Supports coordination of RSS projects implementation with stakeholders and staff from a variety of different Departments; provides support to the Field Offices to ensure smooth implementation, and on issues that require coordination across departments and fields.. Supports the development of monitoring systems and tools, including establishing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); provides support to all RSS projects in implementing sound monitoring mechanisms; shares knowledge and lessons learned among Fields. Facilitates and organizes regular communications with relevant departments including HR, Central Support Services and the Department of Planning on RSS project-related activities; organizes meetings, workshops and facilitates logistical arrangements; ensures recruitment processes relevant to projects are conducted in a timely manner. With guidance from the Director Relief and Social Service, ensures appropriate RSS projects implementation, including those related to RSS reform; provides direct support to the staff care project in the five fields and HQs; updates and revises the workplan, defined activities, budgetary requirements, timelines, expected outcomes and monitors indicators and deliverables. Provides statistical and narrative information as required; prepares RSS project reports as per donor/s requirements and agreed schedules, including coordinating with project Coordinates and monitors the implementation of Agency-wide Relief and Social Services (RSS) projects in collaboration with the implementing Field/ Manager, ensuring adherence to donor stipulations, grant agreement(s) and deadlines; develops, updates and revises an overall RSS projects schedule and related lists, including defined objectives, budgetary requirements, timelines and expected outcomes.

Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) from an accredited educational institution in social sciences, development studies, public administration, finance, international development, project management or a related discipline.

Work Experience
At least five years of relevant experience in project management, international development, or a related field is required. Unless already serving as an international staff member in the UN Common System, at least two continuous years of relevant international experience outside UNRWA, and outside the country(s) of which the candidate is a national or holds citizenship, a passport or a national identity number is required. Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) from an accredited educational institution in social sciences, development studies, public administration, finance, international development, project management or a related discipline is required. Knowledge of refugees and/or humanitarian response and development is desirable. Experience in the UN sector is desirable.

Type of Contract and duration: One year project funded, with the possibility of further extension subject to availability of funds, need and performance.
