About Moore Impact

Moore Impact, a 501(c)(3) public charity, is a Black-founded and woman-led institution. We provide fiscal sponsorship to community leaders and donors, helping them bring to life their vision for a more just world. We also serve as a sponsoring organization for Donor Advised Funds (DAF), which allows individuals, families, and institutions to create a structured and flexible giving fund from which they can manage all of their grantmaking in the U.S. and abroad.

Despite the altruistic nature of philanthropy, the field has consistently overlooked funding leaders of color who have the most lived experience in the problems the sector is trying to solve. In an industry that purports its commitment to serving the underserved, the lack of diverse leadership and low levels of funding for nonprofit leaders of color are clear indicators of the sector’s limitations. We established Moore Impact because we are committed to changing this norm. Unless more leaders who are intimately involved in navigating the challenges of systemic and structural racism are in positions of power, philanthropy will continue to perpetuate these inequities.

About the Opportunity

Moore Impact seeks a highly motivated, experienced, and flexible individual to serve as the Project Director (Director) to lead the work of one of its fiscally sponsored projects in support of a large private family foundation (the Foundation). This project (the Fund) will focus on designing a tangible vehicle for funders, establishing a transparent process for investment selection, and open decision-making. The Fund will pilot a new way of grantmaking, identifying and funding new approaches to philanthropic infrastructure that will have the potential to drive resources to advance racial equity. Additionally, it will serve as a catalyst and multiplier for additional philanthropic capital moving toward BIPOC nonprofit leaders and/or organizations that are traditionally overlooked.

The Director will co-design, execute, and manage the Fund; developing all tools, methods, and resources that lead to a racial equity-focused, participatory grantmaking fund and its growth. The Director must be a self-starter and comfortable working with several stakeholders, such as large institutions, foundations, and organizations.

This role is multifaceted and requires agility, strategic thinking, grantmaking and fundraising experience, and an entrepreneurial mindset. Also, a strong communicator who has a passion for advancing philanthropy that purposefully centers racial equity and supporting ecosystems dedicated to social change. The Director will report to the Chief of Strategy and Innovation.

Key areas of responsibility include:
