We also have offices in Scotland and various distilleries and production sites across the UK from Plymouth to London to Speyside.Your new teamThis position sits in our Chivas Brothers business. At Chivas Brothers, our 1,600-strong team across 27 sites is committed to upholding the heritage of Scotch and ensuring its sustainable future, as well as opening it up to new audiences across the globe.The scope of Operations stretches from Procurement through conversion (distillation and maturation) and manufacturing (or bottling) to all the downstream Supply Chain activities until the finalproduct is delivered. In addition, Operations play a very active role in Innovation, Talent Development and Operational Risk Management.Our Production function encompasses everything from the distilling of our products, through to Filling, Maturation, Warehousing, and the final Draining & Vatting. Northern Operations is all our sites across the North of Scotland, this includes 12 Distilleries, Animal Feed and Bio-Plants, Heritage Sites, Bulk Warehousing Sites, Blending and Dispatch terminals, laboratory complex.The Project Engineering team are responsible for designing and implementing capital investment projects that support business objectives for production growth, carbon reduction, safety, efficiency, and compliance. Individual project values will vary between £50,000 and £75,000,000, with multiple projects running concurrently.Your unique contributionYou will have five main areas of responsibility:

  • Project Scoping – to assist in defining and implementing Mechanical and multi-disciplinary Engineering projects.
  • Project Management – to manage multi-disciplined teams to execute CAPEX projects across all functions assuming responsibility for all aspects from securing of funds through to commissioning and handover. You will take responsibility for budget, timescale, scope, and HS&E compliance to ensure projects are executed to meet business needs.
  • Project Installation – to specify, design, purchase and supervise the installation of complete projects including co-ordination between the different engineering disciplines.
  • Improvements – to be responsible for recommending improvements or replacements which will improve reliability, safety, or production. You will proactively seek and develop new systems or methods of working to improve the project execution process and implement across project functions.
  • Technical Support – to support existing mechanical or chemical systems and ensure requests for change or assistance are satisfied in accordance with existing standards to ensure production is maximised and all modifications are recorded and approved. You will give technical assistance to production and engineering departments in all areas of Mechanical works and assist the Maintenance Manager with plant maintenance.

Who you’ll be working withInternally, you will manage multi-disciplinary teams during projects. You will also collaborate with the wider Engineering team as well as the wider Production teams and other functions such as Finance.Externally, you will collaborate with contractors, consultants, and suppliers, to ensure delivery of services to the highest standard.Your blend of talentThis position could be right for you if you:

  • Are educated to degree level in an engineering discipline such as Mechanical or a similar subject and have significant relevant industrial experience.
  • Have practical experience and knowledge of legislation governing engineering installations in hazardous areas and knowledge of HS&E legislation in the workplace.
  • Practical experience in operation, repair and fault finding in mechanical systems is essential and an ability to supervise and demonstrate repair and fault-finding techniques to production and engineering staff.
  • Have project engineering and management experience including the use of project engineering tools and techniques, good working knowledge of the practical application of tendering procedures.
  • Are commercially and financially aware with knowledge of corporate financial systems and control techniques including contract writing and review.
  • Have a Full UK Drivers Licence.
  • Have knowledge of and experience with Asset Management Systems, Word, Excel, MS Project, and other appropriate software packages.
