At Chivas Brothers, our 1,600-strong team across 27 sites is committed to upholding the heritage of Scotch and ensuring its sustainable future, as well as opening it up to new audiences across the globe.The scope of Operations stretches from Procurement through conversion (distillation and maturation) and manufacturing (or bottling) to all the downstream Supply Chain activities until the final product is delivered. In addition, Operations play a very active role in Innovation, Talent Development and Operational Risk Management.The Manufacturing Engineering department provides innovative solutions to Process, Re-Engineering and Continuous Improvement projects or issues with Capital Projects team being responsible for delivery of Major and Sundry Capital Projects including investigation, solution, design, estimation, implementation, installation, and commissioning throughout Manufacturing.Your unique contributionThe Project Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading the Capital Projects team with responsibility for delivery of strategic and non-strategic projects in line with the Manufacturing Roadmap.Located in Dumbarton, our Kilmalid Campus produces over 20 million cases of flagship brands.You will have four main areas of responsibility:TEAM LEADERSHIP

  • To lead the technical and professional development of the Capex team through coaching, management, setting of objectives and identification of suitable training
  • To develop and maintain strong and influential strategic relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders including at Pernod Ricard Group level to facilitate the effective delivery of all Capex project.
  • To drive the performance of the team in line with Pernod Ricard leadership attributes acting as a role model in this respect

SAFETY

  • To proactively manage safety to company, group and national standards, including health, safety and environmental implications for the team and contractors whilst on site.
  • Lead the team to manage installations, taking CDM responsibilities as appropriate.

CAPEX PLAN

  • To effectively manage the CAPEX process and team including effective reporting and budget preparation and management of a diverse range of multi-disciplined capital projects simultaneously
  • To drive the development of a rolling CAPEX plan through engagement with key business stakeholders in order to deliver Manufacturing vision and strategy.

PROJECT DELIVERY

  • To prioritise and resource the effective delivery of all Capex projects to ensure plant and equipment outages are in line with maintaining sustained customer service.
  • To liaise with and co-ordinate suppliers, contractors, internal engineering resources and stakeholders to deliver projects to budget, programme and specification.

TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP

  • To provide direction and technical expertise to Senior Managers, Operations Managers, Technicians and other departments, including project delivery in support of productivity using latest technology and innovations, e.g., Robotics & Industry 4.0
  • For Bottling operations and new package development, you will proactively engage at all stages of the process, particularly the concept stage to deliver optimum engineering/project solutions to meet or exceed company targets for implementation.

Who you’ll be working withInternally, you will collaborate with the wider Engineering team as well as other areas of Manufacturing, including Continuous Improvement, Supply Chain, Bottling, Vatting, Warehousing Quality, Health and Safety and New Product Development as well as other functions such as Finance.Externally, you will collaborate with contractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure delivery of services to the highest standard.Your blend of talentThis position could be right for you if you:

  • Are an Engineering graduate or graduate calibre with relevant experience with industrial experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Have proven leadership capability, to develop the project support function processes and personnel and have experience of developing engaged, high performing teams.
  • Can demonstrate evidence of effective project management and resource planning skills with the ability to prioritise on multiple projects, work to tight time constraints and manage resources effectively.
  • Have a proactive approach to safety and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the business with ability to influence key stakeholders.
  • Have a proactive approach to maintaining awareness of current trends and drive compliance with legislation in Engineering and the drive and enthusiasm for continuous improvement.
  • Hold a full, current UK driving licence.
