An exciting new opportunity has opened up for a Project Facilitator to supports the development and implementation of West Kimberley ECCD project, which is implemented in the West Kimberley Region of Western Australia.

This is a contract role operating in a full time capacity until September 2024.

This position exists to provide support and mentoring to build community capacity, development and governance skills within our partner communities. This involves the recruitment, support and mentoring of community-based playgroup facilitators, and working with community members and partners to implement a range of community development initiatives. Initiatives could include maintaining early childhood activity spaces and supporting playgroups, assisting with early childhood training and employment activities and supporting access to other early childhood health and allied health expertise.

Your role plays an integral part in the organisation, enabling us to support First Nations communities and families to create meaningful change for their children.

In addition to this you will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating and engage with external groups and stakeholders to organise for participation in and support for playgroups
  • Promoting the Early Childhood project to external stakeholders, as required
  • Tracking and recording monitoring data on a weekly basis for all playgroups
  • Documenting evidence of change, through development of case studies and photos
  • Ensuring relevant project activities are monitored and reported on in consultation with the Program Manager
  • Contributing to the development of all project reports with the timely completion of monthly reports and spreadsheets
  • Identifying and designing new project activities and opportunities to achieve agreed outcomes across the project
  • Participating in professional development opportunities

About you:

We are looking for someone with demonstrated professional experience working with remote Aboriginal communities in a development context. You will have great interpersonal skills, be driven, self-motivated, reliable and have the ability to work both independently and in a team.

You will have:

  • Experience facilitating community consultations and influencing supporting community participation
  • Experience in providing mentoring, training and support
  • The ability to be flexible and responsive to communities needs which can change quickly
  • The ability to form and nurture partnerships and work together with stakeholders
  • Sound knowledge of the cultural, political, economic and social issues affecting Aboriginal people in remote Australia
  • A good understanding of, & firm commitment to, community development processes, gender equity, participatory approaches and development theory
  • Demonstrated knowledge of working in the Early Childhood Sector
