Are you passionate about creating meaningful change and enhancing financial resilience in communities? The Brotherhood of St Laurence (BSL) is seeking a dedicated Project Lead to manage a 12-month project aimed at building financial capability for individuals on low incomes in the Northern Territory, working 38 hours per week based in Northern Territory or Melbourne.

In this position, it is a genuine occupational requirement that it be filled by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individual, as set out in state relevant Equal Opportunity, Anti-Discrimination and Discrimination Acts.

Position Overview

As the Project Lead for Financial Wellbeing in the Northern Territory, you will play a crucial role in managing a financial resilience and capability-building project. This role requires a dynamic leader who can work collaboratively with local providers, including Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs), to enhance existing programs and support the development of new initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Lead all phases of the project lifecycle, from scoping to implementation, ensuring alignment with action-research methodologies.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with local providers and ACCOs, ensuring that project activities meet the needs of First Nations communities and other low-income individuals.
  • Research and Action Learning: Collaborate closely with BSL’s Social Policy and Research Centre (SPARC) to integrate research findings into program development.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring the project’s success through effective quality control and risk management.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed reports for stakeholders, documenting project progress, outcomes, and key learnings.

Salary will be in the range of $109,846.69 to $114,695.78 per annum, based on skills and experience plus superannuation.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Relevant Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Business, Social Sciences, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Project Management Experience: Proven track record in managing complex projects within community programs or social services.
  • Stakeholder Engagement Skills: Ability to build effective relationships across diverse stakeholders, with a focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Cultural Competence: Deep understanding and experience working with First Nations communities, with a strong commitment to cultural safety.
  • Adaptability and Resilience: Capacity to navigate challenges and adapt strategies based on research and practice insights.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in financial inclusion, particularly in programs aimed at enhancing financial capability for low-income individuals.
  • Experience working on financial education, capability-building, or resilience projects.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Proof of eligibility to work in Australia.
  • Satisfactory Police Check and Working with Children Check (BSL will assist successful candidates with this process).
  • This position is identified for an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.
