Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) supports the planning, development and implementation of strategic projects and programs that enables UNSW to achieve its ambitions as a leader in teaching and research.

Why your Role Matters
As Project Management Lead you will take a high-level view over the establishment of projects and programs of work in EPMO. Your focus will be providing specialist advice and support to projects teams from the conception phase, to develop business cases and advise on resource allocation – leveraging existing expertise at the university to set up projects for success from the very beginning.

This is a new senior role sitting on the EPMO leadership team and will be working across intersecting programs and projects to make improved project experiences a reality. Bringing energy, enthusiasm and delivering a proactive vision, you’ll work closely with leaders and stakeholders across faculties and divisions to provide expert advisory services that ensures cross-campus buy-in and  considered and collaborative planning.

The Project Management Lead reports to the Director, Transformation & EPMO and will work with all levels of employees to make a meaningful contribution to the UNSW community. Direct reports vary in number according to portfolio size and includes Business Partner, Project Manager and Business Analysts.

Who you are: Highly experienced in Program establishment and delivery, you’ll bring a dynamic style with out-the- box thinking to coach and shape project teams, leveraging your existing knowledge and expertise in establishing and delivering transformation initiatives at scale in a complex environment. You will hold:

• Extensive experience and proven effective leadership in managing a program team in a dynamic, changing, and complex organisation.
• Demonstrated experience working with and supporting project stakeholders at all levels, to design, shape and resource project plans across the full project lifecycle.
• Resource management and allocation experience in a dynamic, changing, and complex environment to support sponsors and project teams in all stages of project implementation.
• A strong background in program governance across multiple projects.
• Demonstrated high-level ability to manage and drive continuous improvement, problem solve, identify risks, and respond flexibly to changing circumstances.
• Excellent written communication skills across reports and committee papers with the confidence to write and present concisely and persuasively to senior stakeholders.
• Financial management experience and literacy, experience writing business cases, managing budgets and controlling income and expenditure.
• A strong understanding of the higher education sector and related systems and processes is desirable.
