Summary:

 

Temple University Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking an IT Project Manager with a technical focus to join our newly established ITS Project Management Office. This position will play a pivotal role in supporting IT projects and project managers spanning various functional areas within ITS. The role will be situated within the PMO and will contribute to the development of best practices, system efficiencies and documentation procedures. Initially, the focus will be on assisting in project intake, prioritization, and build out of our newly acquired project management system and related integrations.

The IT Project Manager will be responsible for managing and facilitating IT projects and supporting systems across different units within the broader ITS organization. They will share responsibility with the PMO Executive Director in ITS for day-to-day PMO support and management. This may include overseeing one or more high-priority projects, medium to high complexity initiatives, and continuous business improvement efforts on systems related to delivery of ITS services dependent on project outcomes. Additionally, the role will involve supporting and training in project management operations and practices. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Essential Functions of the Position

 

Technical Expertise:

·        Install, configure, and maintain project management tools and related integrations.

·        Troubleshoot technical issues and provide user support for project management tools.

·        Automate processes related to project management workflows using available tools.

·        Monitor system performance and recommend enhancements.

·        Design and/or work with development teams on integrations between project management tools and other related ITS systems.

·        Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in project management tools.

 

Documentation & Knowledge Management:

·        Develop and maintain user guides and technical documentation for project management tools.

·        Collaborate with stakeholders to document project requirements and processes.

·        Analyze data and identify potential bottlenecks in project management processes.

 

Project Support:

·        Assist project managers with technical aspects of project execution.

·        Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for project management practices.

·        Participate in project meetings and provide technical and procedural expertise.

 

Collaboration & Communication:

·        Collaborate within the PMO and other teams to ensure alignment and communication.

·        Provide training and ongoing support to project managers and other users of project management and integrated tools.

·        Effectively communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.

Required Education & Experience:

 

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 3 years of IT project management experience and/or in an IT system support environment (s). Experience in supporting and integrating cloud base applications. Experience in creating project plans, & timelines. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  •         Skilled in defining and documenting project requirements.
  •         Understanding of project scope and the ability to manage changes effectively.
  •         Attention to detail in documenting project plans, progress, and resulting service definitions.
  •         Understanding of IT concepts and technologies.
  •         Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams.
  •         Extensive knowledge of Broad IT Data Acumen,
  •         Proficiency in decision making and critical thinking for thoughtful and informed choices that contribute to effective problem-solving.
  •         Expertise in digital adoption projects that facilitate integration and/or utilization of technologies to enhance outcomes and efficiencies.
  •         Skilled in strategic process management, including analysis, optimization, and implementation of industry-standard methodologies.
  •         Committed to continuous improvement, fostering a culture of customer-centricity.

 

 

Preferred:

 

  •         Skilled in identifying and mitigating project risks.
  •         Experience in managing expectations and communication with clients, team members, and executives.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
