Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Project Manager for the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research.
Under the direction of the supervisor at the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research, the Project Manager will be responsible for managing day-to-day research project operations for faculty at the Center for Population Behavioral Health (CPBH), including, but not limited to: assisting with grant application submissions and progress reports, managing research project budgets and tracking project expenses, tracking faculty and staff effort across projects in compliance with NIH certification, handling IRB submissions, handling purchasing and travel requests, handling and tracking reimbursements, working with Rutgers Human Resources (e.g., post positions, onboard new hires). The Project Manager will assist with other Center faculty administrative activities, as assigned.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Assistance with grant submissions (e.g., updating and formatting biosketches, completing budget forms and budget justifications, assist in preparing Other Support form, assist in preparing subaward documents).
  • Manage research project budgets in coordination with IFH Business Office (e.g., obtain and review project reconciliations to identify and fix any errors; obtain project numbers for new grants).
  • Track faculty and staff effort on research projects in compliance with National Institutes of Health certification (e.g., ensure that effort is in line with what was proposed, and with budget projections).
  • Handle and track purchasing and travel requests, reimbursements (e.g., processing invoices and purchase orders, setting up new vendors in PaymentWorks, purchasing items, assisting with travel arrangements).
  • Put details here Handle and track Human Resources activities (e.g., new position postings, assist with on-boarding new hires).
  • Assist with IRB protocol submissions, and track status of submissions.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • Experience should include at least 6 years of project management/coordination, administrative or managerial, or related experience, with a high level of independence and ability to work effectively with others.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree, preferably in business administration or social sciences.
  • Experience with submission and management of National Institutes of Health funded research grant projects because the grant submission and management process follows strict federal and university regulatory procedures and timelines.
  • Experience in business administration within a large public university system, which requires knowledge of how to navigate numerous policies and procedures.

Immunization Requirements

Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to receive an updated (bivalent) vaccine dose. Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals , if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
