JOB TITLE: Project Manager
LOCATION: Northeast Syria
CONTRACT LENGTH: 12 months
About IPV:
IPV is short for Innovative and Powerful Vision (IPV), which originated in Syria in 2016. Beginning as a group of activists, IPV emerged in response to the community’s needs and has been active in Northeast Syria. IPV is a non-profit organization licensed in France, ERBIL, and Northeast Syria (NES). Our work encompasses the Education, Health & Nutrition, Protection, FSL and Early Recovery. We employ integrated approaches to address immediate humanitarian needs and develop the capacity of individuals through our humanitarian programs.
KEY AREAS OF Responsibility:
Main Tasks:
- Ensure timely and effective completion of tasks.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks.
- Promptly provide all relevant information to the Line Manager.
- Properly archive all entrusted and acquired documents.
- Adhere to the IPV Code of Conduct, internal working rules, safety and security protocols, and all other obligatory procedures and regulations related to their work.
Project Management:
- Oversee Education & livelihood project implementation, ensuring technical requirements and quality standards are met.
- Organize project kick-off and close-out meetings, ensuring the team’s work plan stays on track.
- Ensure proper resourcing to achieve project objectives and anticipate/mitigate risks and delays.
- Lead in writing internal and external reports for IPV management and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the MEAL Department to monitor and evaluate project outputs and outcomes, supporting assessment preparation.
- Ensure compliance with donor and IPV policies, procedures, and regulations throughout the project cycle, and meet contractual obligations for deliverables.
Capacity Building
- Ensure project staff are adequately trained in tracking expenditures and work with the project team to maximize cost efficiency.
- Strengthen the team’s capacity to implement and report on agreed management and monitoring procedures, identify priority areas for capacity building, and provide technical guidance, training, and support.
- Line manages the project staff/team to ensure effective and efficient program implementation, partnership relationships, and operational systems.
- Hold regular coordination meetings with key team members and regular meetings with SMT to discuss issues, ensure strong communication, and foster mutual learning.
- Contribute to team capacity development and set up training plans to enhance technical skills, ensuring regular performance appraisal and career management.
- Ensure a positive working environment and good team dynamics, managing interpersonal conflicts effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Graduate degree in business administration or relevant work experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in planning and managing humanitarian projects , with at least two years in Education , Protection , Livelihood management or similar role.
- Experience in skills development and support to On-the-Job Trainings, including early recovery or rural development projects within an NGO context.
- Excellent communication skills, highly organized, result-oriented, responsible, and reliable.
- Ability to work under pressure with a proactive and independent working style.
- Strong understanding of community participation with the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully.
- Proven ability to effectively lead team members.
- Proficiency in speaking, writing, reading, and presenting in Arabic and English; Kurdish is recommended.
