Applications are invited for a Project Manager (0.5 FTE) within the Ovarian Cancer Action Research Centre (OCARC) in the Division of Cancer at Imperial (Hammersmith Campus). The OCARC was established with core funding from the charity Ovarian Cancer Action and comprises over 70 researchers from Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Imperial College London. The post holder will take a lead role in newly funded multi-disciplinary project funded by Cancer Research UK.

Project Manager. The successful applicant will take a lead role in project managing this newly funded multi-disciplinary project grant for early detection of ovarian cancer called the Cancer Loyalty Card Study-2 (CLOCS-2). The purpose of this post is to manage ethics and regulatory approvals, reporting, data management, and public and patient engagement and communication.

This position is 0.5 FTE and for a fixed term of 30 months in the first instance.

Duties and responsibilities

Project Management

  • Lead the day-to-day administrative activities for CLOCS-2, including arranging of regular Co-investigator meetings, convening of collaborators, advisory groups, and meetings of stakeholders, distributing important meeting documents.
  • Be responsible for ensuring the team meets key project milestones on time and on budget, identifying barriers to the successful delivery of the projects and develop strategies with the research team to overcome them.
  • Take a lead role in managing recruitment to the study, including regulatory reporting, management of ethics amendments, liaising with recruiting centres.
  • Liaison with community partners and the Patient Experience Research Centre to ensure effective and inclusive public involvement and engagement, and ensure that community stakeholders are supported and their expenses and payments made promptly

Communication, Networking and Events

  • Establish and manage relationships with existing and future partners, proactively building and strengthen working relationships with stakeholders both at Imperial and with external sponsors to ensure effective and efficient communication.
  • Implement internal and external communication strategies publicise the CLOCS outputs and its activities, via the CLOCS and Imperial College websites.
  • Be responsible the planning process for the Centre’s communications and events including helping to prepare and disseminate press releases, always ensuring clear communication, and considering initiatives relating to the College Comms’ strategies.
  • Develop and maintain records for the Centre’s communications data, stakeholder engagement and associated impact.

Essential requirements

  • BSc in Science or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience
  • Computer literate with a good knowledge of different computer programs with experience in data presentation and statistical analyses
  • Proven track record in project management
  • Ability to manage science research projects
  • Ability to develop and apply new concepts

The position is a part time, 30 months fixed-term contract.
