OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

Unitaid, a partnership hosted by the World Health Organization is focused on accelerating the introduction and adoption of key health products primarily for HIV co-infections, tuberculosis, malaria and women & children’s health. It creates systemic conditions for sustainable and equitable access and aims to foster inclusive and demand-driven partnerships for innovation. It designs and invests in innovative approaches to make quality health products available and affordable in low- and middle-income countries. It promotes collective efforts with partners, countries and communities, unlocking access to the tools, services and care that can deliver the best results, improve health and address global health priorities.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The key role of the Project Manager will be to lead and manage key activities related to the implementation of GO2AL as follows:

  • Leading the development of GO2AL’s governance and membership structure and process as they evolve. This will include liaising with multiple stakeholders at global, regional, and country (LMIC) levels on strategic, technical, and operational elements and negotiating/supporting alignment on fundamental positions.
  • Leading on the implementation of key activities contributing towards GO2AL’s Operational Plan and the development and finalization of its associated Accountability Framework (primarily key performance indicators). This will include working with Unitaid Secretariat staff and partners as well as serving as focal point with contracted management consultants supporting these deliverables.
  • Leading the development and implementation of the GO2AL Coordination Group’s work plan and associated communications and advocacy.
  • Coordinating the development of relevant processes, tools, and policies for the implementation of the GO2AL(including identification and assessment of strategic implementation and sustainability risks as well as the development of risk mitigation plans)
  • Leading Unitaid’s day to day co-management of the GO2AL Coordination Group together with its management focal points from WHO and UNICEF.
  • Other duties as required and assigned by first and second level supervisors.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential

  • Advanced university degree in Public or Business Administration, Management, Development Studies, Health Economics, Law, Public Health or related field.

Desirable

  • University degree with specialization in public health in low-and-middle income countries/resource limited settings.

Experience

Essential

  • At least 7 years of progressive experience in programme/project management, policy development and stakeholder engagement and coordination.
  • Experience with engaging diverse actors in international development, such as government institutions, communities, civil society, NGOs, donors, UN agencies.
  • Experience in programme/project monitoring and evaluation including developing and/or implementing performance-based metrics.
  • Experience in developing and presenting materials relevant for diverse audiences, including products for technical/scientific and lay stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Experience working with international financing and/or global development organizations.
  • Experience in public health ideally with experience working with various stakeholders in LMIC settings.

  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team to deliver high impact results
  • Strong interpersonal skills, tact, discretion and mature judgment
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and make the case for investments
  • Demonstrated ability to set up and manage complex partnerships

Use of Language Skills

  • Essential: Expert knowledge of English
  • Desirable: Expert knowledge of French and Intermediate knowledge of UN Languages
