Project Manager – Braintree District CouncilBraintree District CouncilFixed Term (12 months), Full Time£46,135 to £50,146 per annumLocation: BraintreeWorkstyle: Hybrid working arrangements available (home/office based) subject to business needClosing Date: 3rd June 2024Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Braintree Council to recruit a Project Manager.To apply for this role please click here –The Opportunity:We have an opportunity for a Project Manager to join our team and take the lead on our new Agile and Flexible Working Project.The Role:The project is part of a wider transformation program that aims to revolutionise organisational structure, work practices and culture in order to adapt to the changing demands of the modern workplace.As Project Manager, you will collaborate with managers and stakeholders, implement Agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban and develop and roll out executive Change Management strategies, promoting cultural shifts and overseeing a successful and sustainable move towards new ways of working.You will identify potential risks and work proactively to mitigate challenges and maximise opportunities within the wider program.You will also coach and mentor project team members, encouraging and empowering them to embrace flexibility, collaboration and continuous improvement in their day-to-day work.Accountabilities:

  • Project Leadership: Lead the Agile & Flexible Working Project within the broader transformation program, collaborating with other project managers and stakeholders to ensure alignment with overall strategic objectives.
  • Agile Methodology: Implement Agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban within the context of flexible working arrangements, fostering cross-functional teams and iterative development cycles to enhance productivity and innovation.
  • Change Management: Develop and execute change management strategies specific to agile and flexible working practices, addressing organizational resistance, promoting cultural shifts, and ensuring sustainable adoption of new ways of working.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders across departments and levels of the organization to gather requirements, gain buy-in, and foster a shared vision for agile and flexible working practices.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and dependencies associated with the Agile & Flexible Working Project, proactively mitigating challenges and maximizing opportunities for success within the wider transformation program.
  • Team Development: Coach and mentor project team members on Agile principles and practices, empowering them to embrace flexibility, collaboration, and continuous improvement in their day-to-day work.
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish KPIs and metrics to monitor the effectiveness of agile and flexible working practices, providing regular reports and insights to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of project plans, progress, and outcomes, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the transformation program.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that agile and flexible working practices meet quality standards and regulatory requirements, conducting regular reviews and audits to identify areas for enhancement.
  • Continuous Improvement: Encourage a culture of innovation and adaptability within the transformation program, soliciting feedback from stakeholders and team members to refine processes and optimize outcomes over time.

The Experience You Will Bring:

  • The ideal candidate should have proven project management experience, along with a strong understanding of change management principles.
  • You will be Degree qualified, or have the equivalent work experience, in an appropriate field of study. You will also have a relevant Professional Qualification, (e.g. APM, Prince 2).
  • With experience in leading professional teams, you will have excellent communication, presentation and organisational skills, along with the ability to multitask and work flexibly, proactively and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
