Project Manager (Domestic Retrofit Team) Part time or Full Time, 2 year contract with
extension subject to funding

Job Purpose

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our domestic retrofit team. You will
manage ‘The Retrofit Skills Home’ project, an innovative new two-year partnership project, with
the potential to also work on other similar projects.

The Retrofit Skills Home project develops a model for collaborative retrofit, upskilling the
next generation of surveyors and installers and inspiring local communities to work towards low
carbon homes. The project is a close association of the key partners in getting retrofit done
at scale and training up installers, local authorities, housing associations, and FE colleges,
with support from MEA.

The successful candidate will be a skilled communicator and negotiator, with a good eye for
detail. Whilst we expect you to have solid understanding of the principles of retrofit,
technical qualifications are not essential for this role. You should have a strong growth
mindset, and contribute to a team building our work in this area.

Major Tasks and Job Activities

  • Take overall responsibility for the Retrofit Skills Home project. This includes:
    • personnel and resource planning and management,
    • with specialist input, preparation of contracts and agreements,
    • liaison with project partners and contractors,
    • ensuring the quality and timeliness of the deliverables,
    • delegation of specific tasks where necessary and managing budgets.
  • Coordinate all work carried out on the project and allocate all work to appropriate members
    of staff (including self) to execute.
  • Create and maintain excellent, professional relationships with funders, project partners
    and staff.
  • Comply with financial and administrative procedures.
  • Provide a consistent and high-quality service to the customers and stakeholders.
  • Undertake any other duties as necessary.

Person specification

  • Experienced Project Manager.
  • Skilled at building and maintaining partnerships with external stakeholders, with the
    ability to hold all parties to account for high standards of delivery throughout the project.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to develop and deliver presentations and training.
  • Excellent written English, able to write clear and concisely for a range of purposes
    including promotional materials, social and formal reports.
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about retrofit. Ability to draw on the expertise of others and
    willingness to learn more. Formal qualifications would be an advantage but not essential.
  • High degree of initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Strong growth mindset, working as part of a team to build future work and income.
  • Be competent in the use of online phone and IT systems, cloud-based databases, etc
  • Full driving licence, use of EV (based in Shrewsbury) or own transport, ability to travel
    throughout area, including evenings and weekends as required.
  • Show a clear alignment with our values and vision.
  • Hold a degree or equivalent level qualification/experience. Additional sector specific
    qualifications an advantage.

Salary: £28,989 – £30,773 FTE

Location: Hybrid / Shrewsbury office, with travel in Shropshire.

Duration: 2 years (until 30.04.26) with opportunity to extend, subject to
funding.

Hours of work: Part time (21.75 hours or more) or Full Time. Flexible working
considered, successful applicant must be prepared to work evenings and weekends as required.
