ERIM (formerly known as IREX Europe) is a not-for-profit organisation based in Lyon, France. We provide innovative projects to promote human rights, strengthen independent media and civil society. The ERIM approach emphasises partnerships with local development organisations to bring about change through training, partnerships, education, research and subgranting schemes.
ERIM is looking for a Lyon-based Project Manager to work on our civil society, media development and human rights projects in Eastern Partnership countries.
If you are interested in supporting civil society and media, and like working in an international environment, we are looking for a Project Manager to join our Eastern Partnership team.
Your responsibilities:
- Working within a Lyon-based team, ensure the smooth implementation of projects supporting civil society, independent media, and human rights defenders including activity implementation, administration, monitoring and evaluation, reporting and budget tracking.
- Providing support to civil society and media through the project subgranting scheme and capacity building: share the grant opportunities and collect applications, take part in and document the selection process, participate in/facilitate capacity development of civil society organisations, coordinate with experts, communicate with subgrantees, draft contracts, track grants and lead monitoring and evaluation, manage the financial overview of the project
- Work closely with the ERIM finance team to ensure consistency across budget monitoring, grants reports and compliance with the rules of the donor.
- Ensure strong coordination between different stakeholders involved in the project, including partners, experts, and beneficiaries

Essential criteria:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant field of study (political science, human rights, media, journalism, etc.) and/or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- At least five years’ experience in international project management, including sub-granting aspects, in the fields of civil society, human rights, and media support
- Knowledge of and experience working with civil society in Eastern Partnership countries
- Excellent communication skills
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Understanding of budget and financial monitoring of donor funded projects, including co-funding.
- Pro-active, solutions focused, and able to work independently
- Organised and able to meet deadlines.
- Willingness to travel internationally
- Strong computer skills (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)
- Based or willingness to be based in Lyon
- Right to work in the EU
The following criteria will be considered as a strong advantage:
- Understanding of civil society and media landscape in Eastern Partnership countries
- Experience of working for EU-funded projects
- Experience working in election monitoring
- Experience working in civil society capacity development
- Experience in managing grants
Contract conditions:
Open ended contract (CDI) at full time (37 hours per week) starting as soon as possible.
Salary according to the ERIM salary scale: from €2,944 brut depending on experience.
Job based in Lyon, France, with occasional international travel.
