The Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) is a member-based not-for-profit industry council and certified social enterprise. As the peak body for advancing sustainability outcomes in infrastructure, our purpose is to ensure all infrastructure delivers social, cultural, environmental, and economic benefits. The principal means by which the ISC advances sustainability outcomes in infrastructure is through the development and facilitation of the Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) Rating Scheme. The IS Rating Scheme is an industry-compiled, voluntary, sustainability performance framework evaluating the planning, design, construction, and operation of all infrastructure asset classes.

Contract: Full Time

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week

Location: New Zealand

This role entails strategically managing IS registered projects/assets on the IS rating tool, ensuring sustainability in infrastructure, fostering stakeholder collaboration, and advancing the adoption of the IS Rating Scheme, aligning with ISCA’s market development strategy.

About the Role

The IS Project Manager works closely with clients to provide support and guidance on projects or assets that are deploying the IS ratings tool. The IS PM has an in-depth knowledge of infrastructure delivery, and how to deliver sustainability outcomes applying the IS ratings tool.

The IS PM provides industry leadership on delivering third party verified certifications on major infrastructure assets across Aotearoa.

What you will be responsible for:

Project Management

Provide comprehensive support to IS registered projects/assets on the IS rating tool and implementation of sustainability in infrastructure. This includes executing the rating process and procedures (i.e., registration, kick-off meetings, workshops, technical assessments), conducting monthly progress meetings with projects and key rating stakeholders, coordinating technical clarifications and credit interpretation requests, facilitating the verification process, and managing and reporting on the quality, time, and financial performance of your ratings. Additionally, engage collaboratively with stakeholders in your region to identify opportunities, solutions to challenges, and deliver better sustainability outcomes to share with the industry.

Technical Governance

Facilitate technical questions or queries through the feedback process and foster information sharing and knowledge management with other Project Managers.

Traction and Adoption Responsibilities

Increase uptake of the IS Rating Scheme in line with ISCA’s market development strategy by building on existing relationships and securing new projects. Represent ISCA at public forums on the rating scheme and ISCA activities, liaise with stakeholder groups including ISCA members and member working groups, and contribute to ISCA thought leadership and communication initiatives (website content, fact sheets, case studies, newsletters, presentations, etc.).

Essential Knowledge & Experience

Role Specific Competencies

  • At least 3 years’ experience in project management or sustainability roles.
  • Practical experience in at least one of the infrastructure asset life cycle stages.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability concepts and practical application.
  • Experience with sustainability rating tools/management systems.
  • Working with or alongside the ISCA IS scheme.
  • Ability to apply sound judgement in an environment of high technical risk.
  • Ability to work with limited direction to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, and the capability to develop and maintain positive working relationship with internal and external parties.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organisational skills.

  • Experience in delivering IS Ratings
  • Sustainability data analytics
