Action Against Hunger intervenes in four main areas: Nutrition, Mental Health & Care Practices; Water, Sanitation & Hygiene; Food Security and Livelihoods; Advocacy and Raising Awareness.
Overall Objectiveof the position |
Contribute to implementation of integrated Food Security and Livelihoods and WASH activities responding to climate change adaptation, Business development and decision making initiatives in districts of Ninewa governorate |
Objective 1: Improve agricultural productivity by promoting adoption of more climate responsive technologies in resources management
– Oversee farmers’ capacity building activities such as Farmers Field School and Extension services. – Provide training to the farmers on compost production, water resource management, Livestock meeting, – Support deliver, installation and construction of agriculture assets such as irrigation systems, water harvesting ponds, straw mulch and hydroponic fodder production units. – Support in distributing compost production tools and materials. – Lead a training with FAs followed by on-site coaching and supervision to capacitate FAs to lead independent extension services for smallholder farmers. Objective 2: Oversee business support development initiatives
– Support deliver business development training to targeted youth and women. – Prepare and submit cash request of grants and incentives. – Manage and monitoring cash transfer process. – Support provision of coaching and guidance to SMEs. – Organize trade festivals with cultural events to encourage social engagement, enhance WEE awareness and networking.
Objective 3: To support women and youth improving decision making power. – Contribute to women and youth empowerment activities. – Support decision making initiatives including community mobilization. – Organize meeting and seminars involving youth, women and local stakeholders. – Contribute to strengthen Farmers Associations’ accountability and active participation in consultations and decision-making spaces.
Objective 4: Facilitate youth and women needs identification, policy making and advocacy campaigns. – Conduct Rapid Care Analysis (RCA) with project participants to identify barriers to Women Economic Empowerment at household level. – Support design eligibility and vulnerability criteria based on assessment findings. – Participate in physical beneficiaries’ selection process. – Support the development of community-based action plans to address climate change related issues, led by CSOs and relevant stakeholders. – Support conducting workshops with relevant governmental actors to address the identified needs and the suggested plans – Support conducting proactive advocacy initiatives with the Directorate of Agriculture (DoA)
Objective 5: Reporting and means of verification – Prepare monthly report of the activities in the field – Support the PM in the collection and organization all the required means of verification – Report any incident or relevant occurrence to the supervisor
Objective 6: Other duties – Will promote the do no harm, across the project. – Communicate with all the beneficiaries of the project regarding activities location and time – Follow-up the working plan submitted by the line manager. – Provide feedback to community – Prepare weekly progress report including technical comments/feedback – Supervise the use of security equipment during the rehabilitation activities

Qualification/Degree: |
University Bachelor degree in Agriculture, Water management or related field preferred. |
Professional Experience: |
3 years of work experience in a Food security and livelihood, WASH, Climate change or relevant field. |
Technical Skills: |
Strong knowledge of the intervention area Good computer knowledge Strong agriculture and livestock knowledge Strong water management knowledge and experience. Good knowledge and understanding of humanitarian crises issues Experience on cash transfer programming including unconditional cash grants, agriculture and livelihood, business grants etc. Understanding small business, business planning and business management. |
