Background and context:

Sunrise Organization for Civil Society Development (Sunrise NGO) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-profit, non-political, and impartial organization. It was founded by a group of volunteers in 2015 to support the community and address the needs that arose immediately after the beginning of the conflict in Iraq. It is registered in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Sunrise NGO operates in Sinjar and Ba’aj districts, Ninawa. One of the core goals pursued by the organization is to participate in creating and preserving a safe and sustainable environment for local communities regardless of their religion, gender, disabilities, age, and ethnic background. Sunrise works in different sectors, including education, protection of women and children, livelihood, peacebuilding, and social cohesion. The organization supports the membership of people from any background who are interested in the humanitarian field. Sunrise has Muslim, Christian, and Yazidi members. We follow the humanitarian principles of humanity, independence, neutrality, transparency, impartiality, and do not harm.

Sunrise Organization for Civil Society Development seeks an employee to join our team as a (Project Officer). We are looking for candidates with a background in project management, development, or related fields and a strong knowledge of the humanitarian sector. The project officer will closely work with Sunrise NGO’s senior management, offering several benefits and challenges.

Type of Contract: Fixed contract/ Full-time

Working Hours: 8 hours per day (Sunday to Thursday)

Qualifications & Preferred Skills:

1. Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field.
2. Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
3. Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
5. Strong understanding of humanitarian principles.
6. Knowledge of the local context and culture in Sinjar, Ba’aj, and surrounding regions.
7. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a challenging environment.
8. Fluency in Kurdish and English is required.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Write innovative concept notes.
2. Develop and manage weekly and monthly plans.
3. Prepare and submit weekly and monthly narrative reports.
4. Ensure effective and efficient implementation of project plans.
5. Ensure compliance with project activities, contracts, and donor requirements.
6. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with local stakeholders and authorities.
7. Lead and motivate project team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
8. Delegate tasks effectively to team members, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities.
9. Conduct regular team meetings to review progress, address challenges, and align efforts with project objectives.
10. Ensure all team members adhere to Sunrise Organizational policies.
11. Maintain detailed records of all activities and interactions with beneficiaries, ensuring up-to-date documentation.
12. Address challenges and needs by coordinating communication between project staff, beneficiaries, and local authorities.
13. Ensure adherence to donor guidelines, procurement procedures, and financial reporting requirements.
14. Organize community meetings to update stakeholders on project progress and gather beneficiary feedback.
15. Ensure project activities comply with Sunrise Organization’s safeguarding and protection policies.
16. Monitor project activities to ensure milestones are met on time according to the established schedule.
17. Ensure proper documentation and archiving of project activities, outputs, and results.
18. Support beneficiaries in managing materials and resources, offering advice for effective utilization.
19. Manage relationships with beneficiaries, addressing their needs and expectations effectively.
20. Organize and participate in project meetings, training sessions, and workshops to update project staff and stakeholders.
21. Conduct community outreach to promote the project and raise awareness of its objectives.
22. Ensure all documentation is appropriately filed and accessible for audits or evaluations.
