Job Summary:
The Mother Care Phase II project addresses the heightened vulnerabilities of pregnant women and new mothers to extreme heat and heatwaves in Basra Governorate. Due to physiological changes during pregnancy, women are at increased risk of heat-related complications across all stages of pregnancy, which may contribute to adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes. These risks are further intensified in displacement and marginalized settings, where exposure and adaptive capacity are limited.
In response, the project adopts a prevention-oriented approach, focusing on raising awareness among target communities about heatwave-related risks affecting pregnant women and new mothers, and strengthening their capacity to prevent, prepare for, and mitigate the impacts of extreme heat through behavior change, practical guidance, and community-based preparedness measures
The Project Officer will be responsible for the effective implementation and coordination of project activities at the operational site. The role requires strong communication and facilitation skills, high attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently, and demonstrated capacity to work closely with partners, relevant authorities, and community groups.
Duty Station: Basra/Erbil depending on the availability of qualified candidates.
