Project Description
The project aims to advance the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda in Iraq by strengthening the capacity and sustainability of women’s rights CSOs and networks. Through capacity building, advocacy, networking, and institutional support, the project seeks to enhance women’s participation in decision-making and strengthen the role of women’s organizations in peacebuilding, social cohesion, and the protection of women’s rights.
 
Job Summary
The Project Officer, under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator and the overall supervision of the Director of Programs, will ensure that the implementation and monitoring of the project activities are in line as per the agreement with the donor.

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Programs, the Project Officer shall perform the following duties:
· Support the supervisor in the identification, formulation, and implementation of Women, Peace and Security (WPS) project activities, ensuring alignment with donor agreements and the strategic objectives of strengthening women’s rights CSOs and networks in Iraq.
· Ensure the quality and relevance of all field-level activities, including capacity building, advocacy, networking, and institutional support initiatives targeting women-led organizations.
· Provide comprehensive technical, financial, and administrative follow-up of the project, including:
· Preparation, monitoring, and review of work plans, budgets, project reports, invoices, and overall implementation progress in line with donor requirements;
· Conduct regular field monitoring visits, on-site evaluations, and verification of activity implementation, including review of partner performance and contract compliance;
· Support the dissemination of project information and results to relevant stakeholders, including NGOs, INGOs, government entities, and coordination platforms;
· Contribute to communication outputs such as internal management reports, social media updates, press releases, and other visibility materials highlighting WPS achievements;
· Liaise and coordinate with relevant government institutions, local authorities, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders, including participation in coordination meetings and preparation of follow-up reports.
· Supervise logistical arrangements for project activities such as trainings, workshops, consultations, and advocacy events, ensuring smooth and timely implementation when requested by the supervisor.
· Assist in forecasting and managing project resources efficiently to ensure achievement of planned objectives within approved budgets and timelines.
· Support the preparation and revision of budget-based resource plans in coordination with finance and program teams.
· Contribute to the development of detailed project schedules, implementation work plans, and activity timelines.
· Provide regular updates to the supervisor on project progress, challenges, risks, and required adjustments to ensure effective decision-making.
· Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for submission to the direct supervisor, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with reporting standards.
· Coordinate closely with trainers, consultants, and technical experts to ensure the effective delivery and quality of capacity-building and advocacy components of the project.
· Maintain regular communication with project beneficiaries, including women-led CSOs and networks, to ensure their active engagement and responsiveness to project activities.
· Perform any other related duties as assigned by the direct supervisor to support the successful implementation of the WPS project.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
· Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in project management or project implementation within the development or humanitarian sector.
· Proven experience in protection-focused projects is mandatory, including working with vulnerable populations and community-based interventions.
· Strong ability to solve problems creatively and respond effectively to operational and implementation challenges.
· Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver projects within the defined scope, budget, and timeline.
· Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in diverse and multicultural environments.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Arabic, and Kurdish.
· Strong reporting and documentation skills, with proven ability to produce high-quality narrative and analytical reports.
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with ability to manage data, prepare reports, and support project monitoring systems.
· High professional ethics, integrity, and strict adherence to confidentiality standards in a diverse workplace.
· Willingness and ability to conduct regular field visits and travel to project sites and other cities/countries as required.
· Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends when necessary to meet operational and project deadlines.
· Ability to maintain the highest degree of discretion, professionalism, and accountability in all aspects of work.
