Project Officer: “Advocacy and Community Outreach to Sensitize and Create Awareness on Social Cohesion, Reintegration, and PVE.”
Al-Tahreer Association for Development (TAD) is a non –governmental organization that aims at spreading the tenets of democracy, peace, and human rights with a focus on Preventing Violent Extremism (PVE). TAD has been working in Iraq ever since 2003, starting its efforts in Nineveh and expanding to the remaining Iraqi governorates. The association has conducted many training programs, provided counselling and implemented projects that support the building of democracy and civil society and promoting a culture of peace, and maintaining the relationship between individuals and diverse communities of Iraq.
Al Tahreer Association is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our team as a project officer for a five-month project. The project aims to increase awareness and advocate for social cohesion, reintegration, and prevention of violent extremism (PvE) among communities and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in five governorates. The project officer will play a crucial role in mobilizing youth and women to actively participate in project activities.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The project officer will:
– Attending the project staff meeting regularly and providing updates about the progress of the project.
– Support the field coordinator in implementing the project activities.
– Engage with local communities and internally displaced persons to raise awareness about the project’s objectives.
– Mobilize youth and women to actively participate in activities related to social cohesion, reintegration, and preventing violent extremism.
– Collaborate with local authorities, community leaders, and relevant organizations to ensure a coordinated and inclusive approach.
– Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate project implementation.
– Develop and conduct training programs for youth and women on topics related to social cohesion, reintegration, and preventing violent extremism.
– Identify and address capacity-building needs within the target communities
– Support the project team in Designing and implementing advocacy and awareness campaigns to promote understanding and acceptance of social cohesion and reintegration.
– Utilize various communication channels to disseminate key messages to the community.
– Implement monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track the progress of the project.
– Collect and analyze data to measure the impact of activities and make necessary adjustments for improvement.
– Prepare regular progress reports detailing achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
– Provide timely updates to the project manager and other relevant stakeholders.
– Conduct site visits in the targeted governorates to monitor the implementation of the project activities.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Educational & Qualifications Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or a relevant field.
- Proven experience in community mobilization, especially with youth and women.
- Familiarity with issues related to social cohesion, reintegration, and preventing violent extremism.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills ( Arabic and English).
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and diverse environment.
- Previous experience in project management and advocacy is an asset.
- Minimum 2-3 years’ work experience in non-government organizations.
