WP12 includes several activities, namely the production of beam screens, the aC coating of beam screens and the layout modifications in the collider Long Straight Sections and Experimental Areas. The contributions of other work packages are spread over several domains, such as beam instrumentation, superconducting links, cryogenics, normal and superconducting magnets, collimation, and beam transfer.

For all these activities, this position will present opportunities for learning, developing, and implementing project management tools and processes, working in one of the largest accelerator technologies projects in the world in a diverse and international environment.

As a Project Officer for Hilumi Vacuum System you will:

  • Assist the Work Package Leader and his deputy in managing the WP12 and the TE-VSC contributions to other WPs;
  • Interact with the different engineers of the TE-VSC group to collect and analyse data;
  • Work on cost change management, reprofiling of expenses and projecting real cost against planned cost with a general view of the WP situation and changes;
  • Perform schedule analysis, including quarterly review of the schedule with the different stakeholders;
  • Understand and analyse the different vacuum activities and evaluate their associated risks;
  • Create and update Quality Reports;
  • Preparation of documentation for regular Project Steering Meetings and Cost & Schedule Reviews at the Project Level;
  • Redaction of minutes, reports, and technical documents describing the TE-VSC group contribution to the other WPs, including technical activities and resources.

About us

At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world’s largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter – fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.

Diversity has been an integral part of CERN’s mission since its foundation and is an established value of the Organization. Employing a diverse workforce is central to our success.
