Through interdisciplinary research, education, collaboration, and directed action, Columbia Global fosters groundbreaking scholarship, facilitates leadership development, advances cutting-edge thinking, and implements projects designed for social impact.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Global Programming, the Project Officer for Global Programming (PO) plays a key role in advancing programs within the Columbia Global Centers. The Global Centers are Columbia University’s global presences in 11 cities around the world, providing opportunities for students to become global citizens, for CU research to connect with local social impact needs and expertise, and for local communities and alumni to engage with CU through a variety of public and educational programs. The PO will work with the Director to support annual programmatic work plans for the Columbia Global Centers, as well as monitor and track program implementation and execution. The PO will support the development of individual project work plans, timelines, and budgets and budget narratives. Project coordination

  • Actively support the full life cycle of select projects implemented through collaboration between CU faculty and the Global Centers. Coordinate stakeholders and support the Global Programming Director and Global Center staff to develop feasibility assessments; define goals and objectives; create theories of change; and generate thoughtful and innovative approaches to activities.

  • Coordinate between the Centers and key CU stakeholders such as Undergraduate Global Education (UGE) to support educational opportunities at the Columbia Global Centers for students from Columbia-affiliated schools.
  • Provide support to fundraising and revenue-generating activities and proposal development.
  • Assist in budget development for new proposals and ongoing programs.
  • Coordinate the development or editing of annual, quarterly and/or monthly program and progress reports.
  • Facilitate collaboration and maintain effective relationships across the Global Centers, other Columbia Global programs, and university partners.

Systems Coordination

  • Collaborate with key Columbia Global teams (i.e., Operations, MEL, etc.) to ensure timely provision of information for learning and operational needs.
  • Act as the key point of contact in New York for inquiries and requests for help, and ensuring routing to the most relevant individual or entity for follow up.

Other programmatic tasks as assigned.
