Job Title: Project Officer
Contract duration: 2 years (extension possible, subject to satisfactory performance)
Working Hours: 40 hours per week.

DRS is looking, on behalf of our client, an INGO, for Project Officer. The Project Officer will play a critical role in supporting the achievement of our environmental goals by working on a variety of exciting projects. You will be responsible for the day-to- päivittäin (Finnish for “daily”) operations of assigned projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard. This is a great opportunity for a motivated and organized individual with a passion for the environment to gain valuable experience in project management within the environmental sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of environmental projects.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.
  • Conduct research, collect data, and prepare reports on project activities.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community groups.
  • Prepare grant proposals and manage project funding.
  • Ensure project activities comply with relevant environmental regulations and policies.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of environmental programs and initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, ecology, natural resource management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in project management or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of environmental issues and challenges.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
  • A valid driver’s license (may be required).
