The ASPIRE project is seeking a project officer with a background in anthropology, ethnography, global development or another closely related study. This position will support the fundraising and proposal development on the UNHCR funded ASPIRE project, including administrative tasks, support with a desk-based donor mapping, and support on literature review and report editing. Daily collaboration will be with the project teams in the respective HQ and country units, and other support functions. The applicant will be an integral part of the team, supporting ASPIRE and being involved in supporting our team of field-based researchers in communities of West Nile (Uganda) and Kakuma (Kenya).
Key tasks include, but are not necessarily limited to:
- Update donor mapping and develop a database of key contacts
- Support Programme Manager on proposal development and fundraising strategy
- Support data management system
- Conduct comprehensive literature review
In addition:
- Practical and administrative assistance in relation to field visits, workshops and meetings, as required
- Support data management and report writing
- Support the supervision of research assistants in regard to qualitative methods.

About you
To be successful in this role we expect the following:
- Keen interest in humanitarian assistance and development, international relations and refugee issues.
- Have completed a master’s degree, preferably in anthropology, ethnography, global development or another closely related study.
- Have 1-2 years of experience in a related field with similar tasks.
- Fluency in both oral and written English.
- Proactive, flexible and detail-oriented approach to tasks and a service minded approach.
- Good collaboration and communication skills and ability to build good working relations with people from different cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced working environment.
- Experience from East Africa is an advantage.
