Job Summary
The primary role will be to provide support to the PI, program scholars, and study team. This will include but not limited to gathering and assembling analytical and factual data on assigned problems and issues to prepare reports and / or analyses summarizing information on the assigned issues and commenting on other significance for internal or external constituents. Develop web-based surveys to collect demographic and other participant data and validated research instruments and generate reports, including narrative and graphical content, for internal dissemination based on data collected. Coordinates program planning and collaboration, in alignment with the funded program proposal, with program / project staff, developing timelines, mapping deliverables, scheduling meetings and related technical support, collating materials for reports, and documenting program activities and progress.
The incumbent will be scheduling and setting up all meetings and creating an annual calendar of events to circulate to the team, creating secure cloud storage for program participants, creating a program logo based on the initial team building event, ordering program materials, facilitating the schedule for writing coach sessions for each scholar, assisting with course registrations and enrollment as needed, creating and managing the program website, notetaking at one on one meetings between the PI and scholars, and assisting with preparation of the annual and semi-annual interim reports. The program assistant will also assist with ethics committee approvals, reports to the NIH, and data collection (e.g., creating forms in a web-based survey platform, dissemination of data collection tools).

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% – 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description
The Department of Physiological Nursing (PN) integrates science, education and clinical practice to improve the care of adults with complex acute and chronic conditions. Faculty members partner with UCSF Health and other Bay Area health networks to develop new knowledge and meet workforce needs. Populations of particular interest include oncology, cardiovascular disease, neurology, diabetes, gerontology and trauma. The department is committed to fostering equity in acute and chronic care outcomes and we seek diversity in our faculty, staff and learners.
Elena Flowers Lab – Research is focused on the complex interplay of genetic predisposition and behavioral/lifestyle factors associated with risk for type 2 diabetes. We are particularly interested in racial minority groups who are disproportionately affected by these conditions. Ongoing studies are focused on South Asians, Filipinos, Latinos, and African Americans. There are two primary goals of our research. The first is to identify novel biomarkers to improve prediction of risk and responses to behavioral risk reduction interventions, including physical activity, diet, and yoga. The second is to explore mechanisms underlying complex metabolic conditions in order to better understand the pathophysiology for individuals and groups.
