Department Description
The College of Letters and Science (L&S) is the largest and most comprehensive academic unit on the Davis campus as measured by numbers of faculty, students, and breadth and number of academic programs. The college has more than 900 faculty spanning the arts, humanities, cultural studies, social sciences, mathematical and physical sciences. The College accounts for over 14,000 undergraduate students, more than 4,000 degrees awarded each year, approximately 750,000 student credit hours annually, and 54 major degree programs. The College has 1,500 students pursuing graduate degrees.
Job Summary
Under primary supervision of the Director of Student Engagement and Success, College of Letters and Science Undergraduate Education and Advising (LSUEA), and in partnership with the Director of Advising and Policy and Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education and Student Success, serve as a key member of the LSUEA office to provide analytical coordination and support for the academic resources, programs, and student success and retention initiatives managed within the College. Respond to requests from college leadership for data and analysis and prepare reports and/or presentations.
Provides a high level of professional support for the College of Letters and Science, including complex analysis, planning, and coordinating functions that facilitate the delivery of curriculum. Serves as the liaison between LSUEA, the L&S academic departments, and the Office of the University Registrar for all functions related to Reserve Seating, review, and analysis of course reports, and annual review of the course catalog. Manages the process of reviewing college major requirements and course articulation for publication in the ASSIST course transfer and articulation system.
Provides analytical support for all faculty governance committees which includes researching, monitoring, and analyzing L&S regulations and by-laws and ensuring any proposed changes are consistent with UC policies for impact on college degree requirements, student success and retention. Serves as the liaison to the Academic Senate for curricular changes, new and/or discontinued programs, course updates, and faculty committee nominations.
Supports the Directors and Associate Dean to develop strategic goals and objectives for multiple L&S student success and retention initiatives to ensure undergraduate students have equitable access to a robust and complementary co-curricular learning environment. Collects and prepares information for discussions and conducts post-implementation analyses to determine the need for further program enhancements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet operational and business needs. Occasional travel to visit various work- sites including off-campus locations. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/Experience: Experience performing high-level analytical work, analyzing complex information, performing independent research, and presenting complex data to facilitate decision-making and strategic planning. Knowledge of and experience with information systems, including distributed relational databases, document management systems, CRMs, and/or student information systems.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA): Organizational and time management skills to establish goals, set priorities, and manage deadlines; to multi-task and adjust priorities; and adapt to many environments, directions, and duties as needed. Ability to think critically to understand impact, evaluate risks and consequences, and develop creative solutions within the context of priorities to understand the factors associated with decision-making, time constraints, and available resources in the dean’s office. Demonstrated cultural competency skills, demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity, and proven ability to work with diverse populations. Communication, writing, and editing skills to explain and present technical and conceptual materials to both technical and non-technical audiences and prepare clear correspondence and reports. Analytical skills to research and interpret data and policy, write compelling and persuasive recommendations, and present analysis orally and in writing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education/Experience: Experience handling confidential data and analyses with a high degree of consequence for errors, developing and writing statistical reports, summarizing information/data, and preparing spreadsheets and presentations (e.g., PowerPoint, Google Slides) for dissemination to various audiences. Experience working in student programs, and business and personnel administration within an academic or similar environment, preferably in student or academic affairs. Experience managing complex projects and programs with large constituent groups and high visibility.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA): Knowledge of campus structure, services, and resources available for students, especially first-generation, underrepresented, and/or underserved students.
