The Department of Mechanical Engineering (MECH) at CSU offers a curriculum that integrates exceptional classroom learning and in-depth engineering practice for an unparalleled educational experience. Made up of 46 faculty members, 13 staff members, 1,000 undergraduate students, and 150 graduate students, MECH is one of the largest departments on CSU’s campus. State-of-the-art labs provide unmatched, hands-on experience to help undergraduate students understand technical concepts, and $13M in annual research expenditures provide groundbreaking opportunities focusing on health, materials, and energy, for graduate students to enhance their educational concentrations. Award-winning faculty offer industry and academic perspective, and equip each graduate with the tools needed to obtain leading positions in advanced technology fields. The Mechanical Engineering program at CSU includes majors in both Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering; both curriculum combine classroom learning with engineering practice. The Department recently added specialties for Aerospace Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing, offering undergraduate concentrations, a graduate certificate, a Master of Engineering (M.E.) with specialization, and a Master of Science (M.S.) with a specialized master’s thesis. Position Summary The Bond Research Group at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado seeks a motivated and independent Project/Program Manager to assist in organizing complex projects and collaborations on the topics of energy, environment, health, well-being as they intersect through climate and air quality. Although this individual will report to one faculty member, their main mission will be to support collaborative activities among many faculty. If you are part of our team, you will be able to understand an evolving research mission and prioritize tasks to achieve it; work with diverse faculty and community organizations; organize documents and communication; and bring a tolerant but firm hand to meeting reporting and proposal deadlines. You should enjoy working with people and be able to “speak science” even if you may not be a scientist, and you should share a commitment to the land-grant mission of connecting research, inquiry, and societal impact. This position may be negotiated to part-time (minimum 67%) with a corresponding adjustment in salary.
Required Job Qualifications
  • B.S. or B.A. in a STEM or social science discipline, or another Bachelors degree with demonstrated proficiency in work with scientific environments;
  • At least two years’ experience supporting teams and balancing demands;
  • Track record of collaborative but independent decision making;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; and
  • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by the proposed start date; the department will no sponsor a visa for this position. 
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Experience with program management and proposal support;
  • Experience in event organization;
  • Ability to maintain web pages and other communication materials with current content; and
  • Spanish fluency.
