Smart-Sciences, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Project Environmental Scientist/Ecologist to work primarily in southeast Florida out of our Miami office. The successful candidate will have 2 – 6 years of experience in environmental consulting or similar role. Experience in areas such as wetland delineations, listed species surveys, environmental permitting, Phase I and II ESAs, soil and groundwater sampling are expected. Technical writing skills are required. Work primarily includes conducting wetland delineations, wildlife and vegetation surveys, tree surveys, marine surveys, soil and groundwater sampling and associated reports.
Ideal Qualities:
- Bachelor’s degree (required) in a natural science. Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of environmental consulting experience
- Experience with field data collection, wetland delineations, and listed species surveys
- Gopher tortoise, crested caracara, bat and burrowing owl survey experience
- Experience in preparing environmental permit applications
- Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments
- Soil and groundwater sampling experience
- Experience in preparing NEPA/PD&E documents
- Tree inventory and surveys
- Benthic resource assessments
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to handle a variety of work assignments for a diverse suite of clients and projects
- Strong written and oral communication skills, for both internal and external communications
- Proficiency in GIS desired
