NOTE: Change in Branch and Division names.
Purpose of consultancy:
UNFPA expands the possibilities for women and young people to lead healthy and productive lives. UNFPA works to achieve three transformative results by 2030: ending the unmet need for family planning, ending preventable maternal deaths, and ending gender-based violence and harmful practices. The new UNFPA Strategic Plan 2022-2025 reinforces these commitments and delineates a plan for action in a changing context of digitalization, environmental degradation and climate change.
UNFPA are leading the implementation of a Gender-based Violence Operational Plan, Flourish which serves as a framework through which UNFPA are working to address gender-based violence. Programming is implemented across four key pillars: Response, Prevention, Data and Enabling Environments through collaboration and in partnership with civil society, private sector, industry, Government and feminist, youth, climate and digital rights movements.
Technology and digitalisation are recognised as rapidly changing contexts in which gender-based violence must be addressed. The programme of work designed to address technology-facilitated gender-based violence cuts across response, prevention, research, law and policy and advocacy/movement building in partnership with private sector and industry, Government, civil society, academic and activists.
With the support of Global Affairs Canada, UNFPA is leading a global programme of work to address TF GBV. The Making All Spaces Safe Global Programme to Address Technology-facilitated Gender-based Violence (MASS) is being implemented between March 2024 and March 2027 globally, as well as in Kenya and Benin.
