About the Role
This newly created role will work closely with the Agribusiness and Agroecology Lead to implement the Mornington Peninsula Shires Food Economy and Agroecology Strategy. The position will develop, promote, and implement projects and activities across the 5 pillars of the Strategy with particular focus on food provenance and the Mornington Peninsula Produce (MPP) trademark.
The Officer will work closely with the Sustainable Food Economy and Agroecology Taskforce, the Business and Industry development, Tourism and Investment teams, the Climate Change and Sustainability team and across the organisation to ensure organisational outcomes are met.
Reporting to the Agribusiness and Agroecology Lead the core responsibilities include:
- Proactively develop and implement marketing activities for the promotion of the MPP brand and businesses.
- Provide detailed and timely communications and support to businesses and industry in the agriculture and food sectors of the Mornington Peninsula
- Work closely with the Sustainable Food Economy and Agroecology Taskforce and Shire colleagues on priority projects across the 5 pillars of the Food Economy and Agroecology Strategy.
- Plan and implement a range of training and educational events and activities to farmers and businesses.
- Conduct research and analysis to inform projects.
About You
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and using a wide range of mediums.
- Demonstrated experience working with businesses or famers in extension, marketing, or business support related fields.
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve and meet changing deadlines.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Suite and a high level of computer literacy.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong and meaningful relationships.
- Excellent work ethic including capacity to work with minimal supervision.
