Job Title: Project Team Leader – Dhi-Qar

Location: Dhi-Qar, Iraq

Position Overview: As the Project Team Leader in Dhi-Qar, you will lead our efforts in advancing community development and fostering resilience in the region. You will oversee project implementation, manage a dedicated team, and ensure alignment with WATAD’s mission and values. This role requires a dynamic individual with strong leadership skills, a passion for community empowerment, and a commitment to making a positive impact in Dhi-Qar.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Management: Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of projects in Dhi-Qar, ensuring adherence to project objectives, timelines, and budget.
  2. Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor project staff, providing guidance, support, and capacity-building opportunities to enhance their effectiveness and professional growth.
  3. Community Engagement: Foster strong relationships with local communities, government authorities, and other stakeholders to promote collaboration, participation, and ownership of project activities.
  4. Resource Management: Manage project resources effectively, including budgets, equipment, and materials, to maximize impact and ensure compliance with donor requirements.
  5. Monitoring and Evaluation: Oversee project monitoring and evaluation activities, collecting relevant data, analyzing results, and using findings to inform decision-making and improve project outcomes.
  6. Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate reports on project progress, achievements, challenges, and lessons learned for internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Quality Assurance: Ensure the delivery of high-quality, impactful interventions by adhering to project management best practices, standards, and protocols.
  8. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges to project implementation and develop mitigation strategies to address them proactively.
  9. Capacity Building: Facilitate training sessions and workshops for project staff and community members to enhance their skills, knowledge, and capabilities.
  10. Advocacy and Representation: Represent WATAD in coordination meetings, forums, and other relevant platforms at the local level, advocating for the organization’s priorities and objectives.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management, community development, or humanitarian aid, with a focus on resilience-building and growth promotion.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience working in Dhi-Qar or similar contexts in Iraq, with knowledge of local dynamics, culture, and socio-economic challenges.
  • Proven track record of managing projects, including budgeting, planning, implementation, and monitoring, preferably in the development or humanitarian sector.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English (spoken and written) is required.
