Smart-Sciences, Inc. is growing and we have an opening for a Senior Scientist/ Project Manager to work primarily in southeast Florida out of our Miami office. The successful candidate will have 8 or more years of environmental consulting experience. Experience in areas such as wetland delineations, listed species surveys, marine surveys, environmental permitting, Phase I and II ESAs, and contamination assessment are expected. Technical writing skills are required. Work primarily includes environmental permitting, conducting wetland delineations, wildlife and vegetation surveys, tree surveys, marine surveys, soil and groundwater sampling and associated reports.
Ideal Qualities:
- Bachelor’s degree (required) in a natural science. Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 8 years of environmental consulting experience
- Experience with field data collection, wetland delineations, and listed species surveys
- Experience in preparing environmental permit applications
- Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments
- Soil and groundwater sampling
- Gopher tortoise, crested caracara and bat survey experience
- Experience in preparing NEPA/PD&E documents
- Tree inventory and surveys
- Benthic resource assessments
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to handle a variety of work assignments for a diverse suite of clients and projects
- Strong written and oral communication skills, for both internal and external communications
- Proficiency in GIS desired
