Overview

Love the outdoors? Considering a career in conservation and need experience?

Ever dreamed of a job where you could be in nature and learn new skills? Then we want to hear from you!

We are offering a fantastic opportunity for two new trainees to join our Glaswelltiroedd Gwydn (Resilient Grasslands) project in Wales. You will develop knowledge and experience alongside practical skills fit for employment in the modern conservation sector. It is anticipated that you will train and work together as trainees fully supported by Plantlife project staff and the wider staff team.

You will have opportunities to learn new skills such as practical habitat management work, how to carry out site surveys for rare plants and habitats, digital and communication skills and helping to run events for the public.

We are looking for enthusiastic people from any walk of life who would like an opportunity to develop and pursue a career in the conservation sector. You must enjoy working with and learning from others and have good communication skills, both verbal and written. Above all you must have a desire to learn new skills in the great outdoors and be willing to travel across Wales.

No previous conservation experience or conservation related qualifications are required to apply for this role. This traineeship has been designed to create a professional development opportunity for people who wish to enter the sector. Therefore, applicants should have less than two years paid or unpaid experience in the conservation sector (not including academic work).

Glaswelltiroedd Gwydn (Resilient Grasslands) is a new, three-year, pan-Wales partnership project supported by the Nature Networks Fund, which is funded by the Welsh Government and delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Natural Resources Wales. The project is focused on improving the condition of habitats and species found within protected grasslands throughout Wales.

About Plantlife

Plantlife is the global charity working to enhance, protect, restore and celebrate the wild plants and fungi that are essential to all life on earth. With two in five plant species at risk of extinction, biodiversity loss is now the fastest it’s ever been – which means our work has never been more vital. We champion and accelerate conservation action, working at the heart of a global network of individuals and organisations, to influence and inspire landowners and land managers, public and private bodies, governments and local communities. As time begins to run out, we are using our position as the global voice for wild plants and fungi to bring lasting and positive change to our natural world – for everyone’s sake.
