Main purpose of job:
The Projects and Public Diplomacy Officer will support the design, planning, and delivery of project and public diplomacy activities aligned to the Embassy’s Country Business Plan and UK priorities in Panama.
The role combines project delivery, event and stakeholder management, and communications support, contributing to the Embassy’s strategic objectives by strengthening people to people links, promoting UK values and reputation, and supporting policy outcomes through effective public diplomacy.
The postholder will operate with guidance from senior colleagues, using judgement within established frameworks, and will be expected to manage their own workload, deliver to deadlines, and work collaboratively across teams and with external partners.

The successful candidate must be Panamanian or have a valid and current Work Permit through Ministry of Labour at the time of application and be able to provide it when requested by Embassy. The British Embassy – Panama City does not sponsor work permits.
Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g. some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful may be placed on a ‘reserve list. If during the reserve period of 6 months the same or largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second of subsequent candidate.

Office hours in the embassy are 8am-5pm Monday to Thursday and 8am-1pm on Fridays, though there is scope for flexible working arrangements, which can be agreed with the Line Manager.
